Remote work in the post-COVID era changed that calculation dramatically. It is no longer only senior folks who are paid U.S. salaries to live in Europe. This category now includes a lot of mid-level people in sales, recruiting, engineering, etc.

You're right - because when you make U.S. money and live in Europe you're no longer "middle class." You have quickly moved from median income to upper income one in terms of local purchasing power. It's not that complicated. If folks were actually European middle class it would be different.

I’m all about it but in speaking with Davis colleagues who work in Sac they say it is always easier, cheaper, and faster to drive. Not to say we shouldn’t invest in it but I think have to square that circle somehow to get people to make the switch.
