I agree we're off track with lots more to do.
I think the point here is just that #renewable #energy is a about 25 times faster than #nuclear, whilst costing roughly half the price.

I don't doubt this, but what are the numbers and sources you based that on please?
UK £1bn investment in community energy to create opportunities for communities to take “a direct stake in a clean, green, more affordable energy future,” to deliver 8GW of locally owned clean energy by 2030.

6/ The government's own adaptation plans have been rated "inadequate" by the Climate Change Committee.
We set out what needs to change.

5/ One study estimates heatwaves and floods alone could push UK food prices up by 34 per cent by 2050.
The fifth of households on the lowest incomes already spend 45 per cent of their income just to meet the government's recommended diet.
4/ The UK imports roughly 40 per cent of its food. A quarter comes from the Mediterranean, where extreme weather is devastating yields.
The countries we depend on face far higher climate risk than we do.
2/ England has recorded three of its five worst ever cereal harvests in the last decade. Bad weather cost arable farms over £800 million in 2025.
60 per cent of England's most productive farmland is already at the highest flood risk level.
𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 | Climate change added an estimated £361 to average household food bills in 2022-23.
Staples like coffee, cocoa and olive oil have already spiked sharply. And the risks are growing.
Our new report traces the impact at every stage of the food system, from farm to fork: buff.ly/MtXrKNM
3/ Hotter summers are hitting livestock too. Heat stress cuts dairy yields by up to ten per cent and costs individual farms up to £90,000 a year.
South West dairy herds could face a tenfold increase in heat stress days by 2070.

We have a new paper finding that parabolic trough solar thermal collectors with molten salt energy storage could reduce both costs and GHG emissions in process heat applications, particularly in regions with strong solar resources and sufficient land availability.

Yes, we have an El Nino – probably Super-Duper – see the better diagnostic (Fig. 2) – comparison to ordinary and Super El Ninos

Breaking: New study using observational constraints projects that the Atlantic Ocean circulation #AMOC will weaken ~50% by 2100, even for medium emissions and without Greenland melting. 🌊
More realistic models means stronger weakening - not entirely unexpected.
www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
The #AMOC by 2100 will thus be so weak (~8 Sv) that it is very likely on the way to full shutdown, as our study last year showed: iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1...
In my view, this now makes a full #AMOC shutdown more likely than not. Definitely not a low likelihood risk, as we used to think.
Extraordinary that nowhere in an article on resilience did PM find space to include the growing threat posed to UK security by the dramatic decline in the health of nature around the world - especially since his own intelligence chiefs have recently spelt it out for him in no uncertain terms 👇

So, without looking into it further, my guess is that in most cases you wouldn't need to do one at all for the small turbines you're talking about 🙂
I just asked someone involved with a just under 1MW turbine if they needed to do an EIA and they didn't.
They said it "normally applies to larger turbines or multi turbine sites" and pointed to this guidance here collingtonwinter.com/blog/environ...
I've never been a start page kinda guy, but I know lots of #selfhosters who'd like to use this if it was possible to #selfhost - but it doesn't look like it is?
You are one of the reasons we chose @ghost.org the other being @josef.is 🙂

This is the most comprehensive dataset of #CommunityEnergy organisations and projects in the UK - make sure you're in it!
Do you work with a #CommunityEnergy organisation?
Have you added your latest data to our State of the Sector portal yet?
If not, we're collating the data for 2026 now, so please do so ASAP - thanks! 🙏
