The Lyrid Meteor Shower is active April 14–30 and peaks overnight April 21–22, with viewing best after midnight under dark skies. These meteors are bits of debris from Comet Thatcher burning up in Earth’s atmosphere, and the Lyrids are famous for producing occasional brilliant fireballs.

The latest @locusmag.bsky.social is full of goodness, including a spotlight on @tananarivedue.bsky.social and my reviews of @comptonwrites.bsky.social’s Dead First, Kim Fu’s The Valley of Vengeful Ghosts (@tinhouse.bsky.social) and @edashtonwriting.bsky.social’s After the Fall.
This will sound corny as they are recent and commercial, but one reviewer suggested that my novel KALIVAS! OR, ANOTHER TEMPEST had dialogue reminiscent of Pinter and Beckett, and another thought it like the work of Margaret Atwood and David Mitchell.
Have some new followers, so, jsut a reminder... I write books... I have eleven cats... you should read my books, and the glaring cats agree.
Here's a lovely photo of my fabric art creation, the tiny witch homunculus. She's a little green humanoid with large twinkly red eyes and a tiny frown. She doesn't have any clothes to speak of. She's sitting on a small cookie of sliced wood. She's holding a little stick wrapped with rainbow thread with a green stone on the end. There's a little broom standing upright beside her. On the other side is a green, yellow, and blue striped sock. In the background is a beautiful Monet painting fabric.
Here's the witch homunculus in a Monet-inspired pocket dimension, using her magic to add another stripe to one of my socks. She still won't explain to me why she mildly transmogrifies one of my socks every night.
A day to remember Chrissy Amphlett, who #DOTD in 2013… Fronting the Aussie rock group Divinyls, Chrissy earned US #OneHitWonder honors in 1991 when their provocative new wave single “I Touch Myself” spent 12 weeks on the US #Billboard #Top40, peaking at #4. #ChrissyAmphlett #OneHitWondered #MusicSky
Check it out, folks! I'm doing a live interview tonight, and I hope a bunch of you will join me!

I recently reviewed the excellent Australian thriller novel, Redbelly Crossing by #CandiceFox. An amazing and compelling read with some highly damaged characters, Redbelly Crossing comes very highly recommended.

Sincere gratitude to everyone who bought THE WIDOWS OF WINDING GALE in paperback and/or audiobook. It’s my bestselling title since SOUR CANDY and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive so far, so thanks for spending some time with me on my accursed Irish island.

A fifteen drawer card catalog with some drawers pulled out and Library of Congress literature in the drawers and on top.
It is National Library Week and the Library of Congress has done a cute nationwide thing with old card catalogs highlighting a lot of their core programs. I'm partial to their "Free to Use and Reuse Sets" but I'm sure we've all got our faves. 📚

It is National Cat Lady Day. We had one heck of a party to celebrate how lucky she is to have us. Maybe next year we will even invite her. Who knows? Could happen.
