This week on Deep Cuts in a Lovecraftian Vein we look at another article on HPL's ex-wife Sonia H. Davis. "When Sonia Sizzled" (1973) by Gerry de la Ree gives insight into how Sonia's memoir of HPL was received.

In honor of Sonia H. Davis’s birthday, I’ve published Part II of Sonia H. Davis: A Documentary Record, continuing the timeline of her appearances in the press and including the complete transcript of her 1948 memoir of H. P. Lovecraft.

March 3rd is not only an important date in Lovecraft scholarship, but also a meaningful one in the life of Sonia H. Greene.
Here’s my celebratory post from 2024.

This month I’m sharing Part I of a project I’ve been steadily building: a documented record of every available newspaper mention of Sonia. What was once scattered across archives is now gathered into a single timeline.

I had no idea they did a vinyl edition of Tales of H.P. Lovecraft! I have the digital version, and love it.
It sounds like is time to find an outlet for those half million words and share them!
I’m glad you’re enjoying it! I’m currently revising the timeline of her life (printed in Two Hearts That Beat as One) and hope to publish it (with citations and all) on the website some time soon. This will help bring some chronological order to the current articles in the site.
Thank you so much for the share! I greatly appreciate it!

Sorry for being so late to this response. I’ve been taking a hiatus from social media. I maintain a website on Sonia, and provide articles about certain parts of her life. They’re free!

I’ve been missing in action lately in here, but new year, new post! I’m really excited to share about a new project I’ve been developing for The Papers of Sonia H. Davis! soniahdavis.com/2026/01/20/2...
This is the last post for The Papers of Sonia H. Davis blog, and I take the time to reflect on the year and what’s next for the new year.

Thank you for including it alongside all your amazing research this year! 🤩
It's been a very long year on Deep Cuts in a Lovecraftian Vein. My New Year's resolution was "do less on the blog, concentrate on the book," and I violated that by week three.
How many posts have there been? Let's find out.

Nothing's really working today and I need a distraction. So who wants to read a letter from Robert E. Howard about H. P. Lovecraft?

Addendum: Anna Gallup was the first curator for the Brooklyn Children's Museum.

Oh, that reads like a good pun! 😂
For this month, I focus on Sonia’s time as a historical researcher during the Great Depression. Her research papers are presented in full for the first time.

Reposting so I can read it later 👀
If you see this, post a vampire and pass it on.
Don’t forget to write your compliments (or criticisms) over at Goodreads once you’ve finished reading the autobiography!

"Christians everywhere, and in Germany in particular, ought to realize that any man seeking governmental power who is so small as to attack a race or creed is by his very prejudices unfit for the high office he would pretend to fill."
