Congratulations to the people of Bangladesh. A step in the right direction by strengthening controls on the executive. It is increasingly a question for all democracies worldwide - 'how to limit the powers of the executive'

It is truly admirable what the 'voice of the people' can achieve. All Americans should be proud on how active the democracy is. Authoritarian governments globally tend to get away with murder.

Isn't this entire scenario very confusing. On one hand they slate Russia for invading Ukraine and on the other they cheer on the invasion of Greenland. Russia at least frames Ukraine through NATO expansion. Greenland is already part of NATO, an ally !!!
When people rise in protest, it is because the systems meant to serve them have stopped doing so. Power should return to the people, where it belongs
The richest 1% consume their share of the global carbon budget in just days. The problem clearly lies in excess and human greed.
Taxing luxury emissions like private jets and yachts at multiples isn’t a punishment; it’s a necessity in a finite world

It is incredible how power works. World leaders are sitting quite, figuring out how to be diplomatic around what is clearly an illegal action in #Venezuela . They lost the leg to stand while criticizing #Russia. Sad day for world order.
So where next Donald Trump ? Greenland ? Iran ? or the big one Canada ?
Muhammad Yunus must be the biggest disappointment of the Nobel Peace Prize. Anyone done worse than him?
Calling back to Maslow: once physiological and safety needs are met, our higher needs are more emotional and relational. A sharp difference in social standing can make people feel unseen. While a fairer distribution of wealth is necessary, we can also learn from eastern philosophies and look inwards
Almost all political leaders, regardless of geography or ideology, are insiders. There are multiple academic studies documenting how politicians engage in rent-seeking behavior.
Approaching the 100-year mark since the Great Depression, we seem to be echoing the past - extreme inequality, speculative bubbles, and rising joblessness

The playbook is written right in between the lines
1 - Be confident, self assured and preferably good looking
2 - Engage with Trump, hide your disdain deep inside
3 - There is no need to suck up
Better to engage with an elected President rather than indulge in self righteous contempt.
Our countries' leaders are not our countries. They are supposed to be a representative of all of us. Democracy Fails !!
At least it gives other world leaders a chance to discuss the situation without interference.

Right? I can see this going either way.
What are the betting odds for Trump falling in love with him vs Trump absolutely hating him?
It is an unashamedly capitalist government. What do you expect?
The sheer number of names in the #EpsteinFiles is a reminder of how tightly connected global elites are. Power networks move together, protect each other and ensure power is concentrated among 'The Few'.
Get a load of this : total wealth in the U.S. is estimated at USD 150–180 trillion. And yet 50% of the workforce doesn’t make a living wage (44% among full-time workers).
This is the biggest FU to trickle down economics.
When even the Pope tells world leaders to act instead of pray, you know the crisis is real. The world needs to act. Now!!!

Bold suggestion. But we all know there are too many vested interests for this to ever become a reality.
Another democracy slowly fading away.
It is not as dire. All the fundamental blocks are in place. They have capabilities for advanced defense projects, good R&D and sound foundation of clean energy. They need to find low cost manufacturing partners and markets for exports - potentially the two go hand in hand.

I did a bit of digging after all the news about SNAP:
• Theoretical output per worker (GDP/capita): $40/hr
• Median wage: $23/hr
• Federal minimum wage: $7.25/hr
• 25% earn less than $15/hr
• 75% earn less than $24/hr
Result: 41 Mn applications for SNAP.

has shown empathy in his rhetoric; he now needs to walk the walk. But something he said is something that all of us in the democratic world should remind ourselves daily: "This is our democracy." Even the leaders we admire are still answerable to us.
But that's precisely the point. A job should provide for everything you mentioned. Corporate profitability is built on unhealthy worker compensation.
