Jason and I have done three batches of donations to local charities.

AFTER I DROPPED OFF ANOTHER 100 THIS WEEK FROM THE WINTER CAMPAIGN, I WAS TOLD THAT ONLY THREE REMAIN FROM THAT FIRST BATCH. A BUNSEN, A BEAKER, AND A GINGER. THEY REMAIN IN A TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE ROOM. IN THIS TERRIBLE ROOM, THEY HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT JOB. I WAS SHATTERED AFTER THIS STORY.

ONE OF THE THINGS CACAC HAS IS A MEDICAL EXAMINATION ROOM. THE EVIDENCE SHOWS THAT CHILDREN FEEL MUCH SAFER IN ROOMS LIKE THIS TO TELL THEIR STORY THAN IN THE CHAOS OF A HOSPITAL. AT ANY RATE, WITHIN THIS ROOM SITS BUNSEN, BEAKER, AND GINGER IN THEIR LAB COATS. WHEN KIDS ARE SCARED, AND THEY OFTEN ARE, THE NURSES TELL THEM ABOUT BUNSEN, BEAKER, AND GINGER. HOW THEY ARE BRAVE ANIMALS, AND THEY ARE WEARING LAB COATS LIKE THEM.

IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE. MANY HUG AND HOLD THOSE STUFFIES. I HAD TO SIT IN MY CAR ON THE VERGE OF SOBBING AFTER GETTING OUT OF THE BUILDING. SO, FIRST OFF, THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED A STUFFIE. IF YOU MISSED IT, WE WILL HAVE ANOTHER CAMPAIGN UP IN A BIT. SECOND, TO ANY OF THE CACAC STAFF/VOLUNTEERS WHO SEE THIS POST, THANK YOU FOR THE DIFFICULT WORK YOU DO.

KIDS WILL OFTEN NOT BE BRAVE FOR THEMSELVES, BUT BE BRAVE FIRST FOR OTHERS, ESPCIALLY ANIMALS. SITTING WITHIN CACAC ARE NOW 100 MORE LITTLE ANIMALS TO HELP WITH THAT BRAVERY. THEY SIT THERE BECAUSE OF THE GENEROUS HEART OF OUR COMMUNITY.

SENSITIVE SUBJECT POST NOT ABOUT OUR DOG'S HEALTH, BUT ABOUT THE HOPE COMMUNITY BRINGS IN A VERY DARK TIME FOR CHILDREN.

OVER DECEMBER, JANUARY, AND FEBRUARY WE RAN A DONATION CAMPAIGN WHERE FOLKS COULD DONATE A STUFFIE TO THE CENTRAL ALBERTA CHILD ADVOCACY CENTRE OR CACAC. CACAC IS PLACE CHILDREN GO WHEN THEY ARE ABUSED AND THEN A BLANKET OF LOVE AND SUPPORT ENVOLOPS THEM.

I AM ALWAYS FILLED WITH SADNESS AND RAGE THAT SUCH A PLACE IS NEEDED. IT IS TRAGIC. YET IT IS NEEDED. CACAC HAS JUST AMAZING FACILITIES FOR THESE KIDS.

WE DROPPED OFF JUST SHY OF 100 STUFFIES LAST YEAR. EACH CHILD THAT COMES THROUGH THE CENTRE GETS A STUFFIE. Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre

Our animals are totally ok- We just didn’t want anyone to walk into this post without a warning. It is about ch*ld ab*se.
