With 29 boilers working to generate power, the Ship required an immense fuel supply and a nonstop routine to maintain consistent steam pressure throughout the voyage.

We remember the remarkable people whose courage and sacrifice defined that fateful night. Leading Fireman Frederick Barrett worked in the boiler rooms as #TITANIC took on water, helping to keep systems running long enough for evacuation efforts to continue.
Rope might seem ordinary until you realize what it takes for it to survive in the harsh conditions of the Atlantic. Organic materials require different conservation methods than artifacts made of other materials, and preservation is what allows pieces like this to still be studied and shared today.
