It's wild to think about how it was marketed to kids. I remember getting a Beetlejuice-branded bookcover to put on one of my textbooks by the end of 1988 in fifth grade.

The aunts of my family (including Mom) took the young cousins, ranging in age from six (my sister) to 14, to see the film as a group of eight.

And my sis LOVED it. Watched the show, made a Halloween costume, got the toys. She made sure to see the sequel in theaters, too!

The upcoming Stranger Things cartoon inspired me to look back at the VERY weird history of animated spin-offs of live-action shows, and to suggest some new ones:
