I will be speaking at Android Makers about the internals of the androidx.tracing library and how benchmark driven development ensures low overhead tracing. If you like tracing, profilers and benchmarks - this talk is for you!

My fav new feature in the latest Android release is "Connected Displays".🖥️
You are able to plug in your phone to a big screen, and benefit from all the extra space that the screen provides 🤯
This means you should *really* ensure your app works on diff screen sizes.
To demonstrate how the various new FlexBox properties affect layout behavior, I created a little visualizer experiment: sanbeiji.com/experiments/...
Try adding items, messing around with the property values, etc., to see how things change! Example code changes appear at the bottom.
Nice! I'm curious what kinds of things you did that led to the response
Our lead visual designer wrote about the complexity of designing for transparent screens. Learn how we approached building Jetpack Compose Glimmer, the design language for Glasses experiences on Android XR.

It is the year 2026, people are still confused about compileSdk and targetSdk. (e.g. you can have targetSdk that is higher than compileSdk)

Maybe this will explain it a bit more.

The new major version of androidx.tracing is now available on Google Maven. We’ve spent the last year optimizing it, so it's extremely low overhead.

Happy Tracing!
It was such a cool event! It was an honor to help with judging, and it was great to see folks bringing their creativity and talent to build experiences on #AndroidXR with #Gemini
Protesters chanting "We're not cold, we're not afraid, Minne[apolis/sota] taught us to be brave" in Boston tonight outside Government Center station.
I'm seeing more and more instances of "we don't look at compiler output, so when LLMs generate code, we don't need to look at the output"
LLMs are not compilers. With a compiler, you provide a highly detailed spec and know exactly what you are getting.

We heard you that debugging shared elements is tricky. In 1.11.0-alpha03, a new composable LookaheadAnimationVisualDebugging was added.
Wrap your SharedTransitionLayout to add visual cues to track down those hard to debug issues. 🐛⤵️

That's pretty cool, maps.google.com seems to be using Filament now. I found its symbols in the WASM file used by the site.
