When communities lead the interpretation - not just access the data - different insights emerge about what needs to change and how.
See the interactive maps, plots, and Github repo: justknowledge.org.uk/case-studies...
We built an R package (policedatR) so researchers can easily analyse over a million stop and search records. But here's what makes this different: we're using this data alongside communities in Haringey to interpret what these patterns mean for young people's mental health and daily lives.
You can explore the data yourself, see the disparities (Black people stopped at nearly 3x the rate of White people), and access all the code behind it.
We've published a case study on stop and search across England and Wales - with interactive plots showing racial disproportionality across every police force.
We're grateful for the interest in our work. Time to return some value.

Right now we're collaborating on some exciting projects with @wellcometrust.bsky.social , @jrf-uk.bsky.social , @placematters.bsky.social , @mysociety.org , @forensicarchi.bsky.social on research that asks different questions and centres community voices.
Welcome to everyone who's followed us so far.
We're Just Knowledge - working in partnership with marginalised communities to generate rigorous, community-driven research that drives systemic change.
Conversations with residents offer a deep account of the realities of life in their neighbourhood – an understanding that would be unattainable observing only data
We are partnering with Place Matters and Just Knowledge to equip communities with knowledge, power, and agency to drive social change 🤝
