One (probably forlorn) hope from this fiasco is that Westminster finally realises that being US ambassador is just a civil service job like all the other ambassadorships rather than an opportunity to bask in the reflected glamour of the US

Team selection edit In what was later described by writers for BBC Sport as the "great World Cup final mystery",[51] Ronaldo was omitted from the official teamsheet which Zagallo presented to FIFA at 7:48 p.m. local time (5:48 p.m. UTC), 72 minutes before kick off, with Edmundo named in his place. Reporters for the BBC and other media received the news shortly after 8 p.m. and had not expected this development, with John Motson describing scenes of "absolute mayhem and chaos" in the commentary box. At 8:18 p.m., however, Brazil submitted a modified teamsheet with Ronaldo's name reinstated.[52] It was revealed several years later that Ronaldo had suffered a convulsive fit on the afternoon of the final, had lost consciousness and spent three hours in hospital, but decided shortly before the match began that he still wished to play.
Context:
That the French government poisoned Ronaldo the night before the 1998 world cup final
A classic of the genre.
As we've argued throughout the campaign, the disconnect between political analysis and policy analysis has become disconnected to the point of severe dysfunction.
The former becoming a form of irrelevant Kremlinology, the latter falling entirely by the wayside.
Personally I think they made a mistake putting that Mandelson bathrobe picture on the cover, meant everyone who saw the report just instantly suppressed the memory of it for their own mental health
If you start watching now and watched continuously until June 2028 you still would not run out of action movies Call of Duty is based on
Actually cackling at that description of that street
^Change UK, damnit
Oh yea but I feel like Pearson was still somewhat sentient at the end so probably ends up more the "vote Remain, dramatically joins Chamber UK in 2019, is now a recurring guest on the News Agents" route
Brutally unfair on Stewart Pearson there

Oh they've closed that M&S so now you just have to go up the escalator, across the open space, into the shopping centre, out the other side of the shopping centre, across another open space then into the park, down two escalators and there's another one there
I'm helped by my commuting routes almost always taking me through there but still periodically get thrown off when some new thing opens. My mental map of the Crossrail station may as well be the Tardis

As someone who's lived near CW for the whole of my time in London (16 years and counting) my nuclear hot take is that I like it and it's good, but Stephen says it better

Watching a documentary about rail privatisation, some might say that's a sad way to spend your Saturday evening but then you get to a gem like this
This week, the State Pension age started to rise from 66 to 67.
Our new research with people in their 60s shows that most people know about this change.
However, our research also highlights the issue of pre-retirement poverty among people aged 60 to 65.

Hello how can I join this campaign
I like this but then isn't it just "the game but on story mode?
Best interview by an actor who knows they're trying to promote a lemon but is just an absolute professional about it
Mass Effect works because no 2007 game combined DS9, Babylon 5 & Revelation Space plus the relationships you develop with the characters in your squad. In a medium where the former already exists you're really banking on the characters connecting which a 10 episode season will probably struggle with
Follow-up: why not just rewrite to be an entirely different IP because doing Mass Effect as a TV show is a terrible idea?
PPF is easily one of my "new episode? Download instantly, top of queue" podcasts
This reminds me of @jasonkpargin.bsky.social's point that with the Mandalorian Disney hit upon a formula that could've easily lasted 10 seasons and somehow burnt it out within 3
