They beat a blind refugee who speaks no English for failing to obey police commands he could not understand. Then instead of apologizing, they charged him with possession of a “weapon”—HIS WALKING STICK. Then they dumped him miles from home without notifying anyone, after which he was found dead.

when they close it all up, I do believe this will go down as the funniest video on the internet
You been hit by a smooth hymnal
Exactly what it says on the label: The Pope in 1982. He's wearing a black hat, dark RayBans, and looks like he's a member of the Blues Brothers.
What's from Chicago, hates Illinois Nazis, and is holy as fuck?
It's the Pope in 1982.
Y'all... WE BACK!
ICYMI (because I did) the OG and proud former @prohoopswriters.bsky.social President for a decade - Joshua Robbins - says he's back OFFICIALLY as @theathletic.com's Orlando Magic dedicated writer!

BIG FACTS 👏🏻🤩
I can't believe I watched this at least 10 times and laughed every time, peaking at maybe 7 or 8 oh my Lord 😭
Such a cool journey for Gator Basketball - I remember when we used to hang NIT banners, and rightfully so for the accomplishment.
Now, we don't even hang Elite EIGHT runs - it's just Final Fours with and w/o TITLES in the rafters at the O'Dome!

Btw, you're off Twitter for good reason, but if you're able, this 10-tweet thread from No Ceilings guy Tyler Rucker with clips from Summer League of Jase Richardson is worth checking out if a friend is still on there:
x.com/tyler_rucker...
Oh, I thought you were responding to Summer League!
He did the same as he did in college: 72% at the rim vs 69%, 50% from 3 versus 41.2%, didn't turn the ball over, and drew fouls (tho they could called lots more.
What did you think of w/Josh Cohen's video?
youtu.be/w_EUG32LMkc?...
If you’re saying that Noah Penda perhaps has a chance to play earlier because Jase Richardson is behind 4 guards, I’m with you, but if you’re saying you weren’t IMPRESSED with what he did at Summer League and how he fits and if needed, that’s baffling to me.

Magic Rookie Noah Penda was also impressive over 3 games.
He averaged 1.7 SPG & 0.7 BPG, opponents shot 37.5% (!) when he guarded them, plus he averaged 3 assists a game while often bringing the ball up since only he, Tristan & Jase could do so.
His last game, w/o Tristan and Jase:
18p/6r/3a
Orlando’s Jase Richardson vs 2nd & 4th-best SL teams:
4th in rookie scoring per-36 behind VJ, Dylan & Tre, 72.2% TS (73.9% @ the rim), only TWO TOs in 47 minutes (4 assists to 1 TO against Toronto, which forced 28 (!) from his teammates - see article👇🏽).

Happy Birthday to the UF Men's Basketball team's 2nd youngest player, Boogie Fland!
America is beautiful, contradictory, unfinished. I am proud of our country even as we constantly strive to make it better, to protect and deepen our democracy, to fulfill its promise for each and every person who calls it home.
Happy Independence Day. No Kings in America.
Shooting our videos is a little bit different now.
And let's face it, Jett's on the team for one more chance... but in the bigger picture much more likely as a $5.5M salary add in a bigger trade.
I think 1/2 the minimum NBA salary & a move away from a full contract again makes more sense for Caleb than going overseas with his current physical development & jobs drying up.
Worst case, he can go into next summer unrestricted and have his agent look for opportunities foreign and domestic.
I'm skeptical about the remaining centers' quality.
I don't understand why Weltman isn't proactive with UDFAs right after the draft with at least one of their 2-ways each year.
Vlad Goldin (Heat), Hunter Dickinson (Pelicans) and Dylan Cardwell (Kings) all made sense as 2-way center options.
I'd like to see the Magic sign Caleb Houstan to a 2-way deal with his last year of eligibility left.
He could still play 50 games (he played 58 last year) and be converted to a full contract if Orlando makes another consolidation trade at the deadline.
A 2-way here is better than elsewhere...
Yeah, I'm disappointed I was hoping we could get him on a 2-way.
It's a tough intersection - promising players of a certain age are what you want on a 2-way contract, but the price point is where overseas teams can be competitive or even outbid.
I just noticed the Magic’s Summer League roster is different. They made some changes this weekend. magicweb.blob.core.windows.net/resources/co...
Big man Skal Labissiere has been added.
Djordjie Jovanovic and Marcus Bingham Jr. are no longer listed. So Orlando has 19 instead of 20 players for now.
I think the reason former Michigan State C Marcus Bingham Jr. isn't on the Orlando Magic's Summer League team anymore is because he's signed or is signing with KK Budućnost (Montenegro, Adriatic League) 🥲
This article is from 6/28 & he left Hapoetl Tel Aviv on 7/1...

The Orlando Magic with Jase, Penda, Tyus, and Moritz signing their deals are now with 14 players on the 15-man roster. What does that mean for Houstan and Queen? Is a cap space clearing trade still coming?
#LetsGoMagic
Yeah, I'm excited too - there are concerns with Penda but both what he will bring now from a depth and lineup versatility standpoint (Orlando having Paolo/Franz/Tristan/Noah all as big wings/forwards is delightful) AND his upside are both eye-opening.
Penda measured 6’7.25” barefoot at the combine. Has a 6’11.50” wingspan. 242 pounds.
