A broader landscape of post-growth pathways: review of sustainability scenarios integrating biophysical limits, sufficiency, equity and structural change Most existing climate mitigation scenarios integrate the notions of continued economic growth and material abundance. They can purportedly be sustained with cle

After the very good reviews of post-growth sustainability scenarios Lauer et al. 2025, and Edwards et al. 2025, we have assessed 60 economy-wide scenarios both explicitly post-growth/degrowth and others with PG features.

I love when a paper has an introduction with a literature review that could almost be a whole literature review by itself.

🚗🏭🧑‍🔧 “Made in Germany” Cars: Germany concentrates the wages, but the work and emissions occur in other countries.

A study by @lapersanc.bsky.social from ICTA-UAB reveals that 73% of wages were generated in Germany, but not 63% of emissions or 54% of the work.

Detailing methods, limitations and uncertainties is more important than presenting the results of a model.

Because it is so far in the future, affecting our children's lives more directly than our own, the CO2 question has an unreal aura about it. It lacks the impact of an oil embargo. Yet the question is real, and while the work we present here indicates that major man-made climate changes may not be waiting just beyond the turn of the century, we do find that CO2 concentrations will almost certainly double within 100 years.

How much are "Made in Germany" vehicles really "Made in Germany"?🚗. In this new paper, we analyse the regional and sectoral contribution of working time, salaries and GHG emissions of vehicles produced and consumed in Germany, and estimate impacts per vehicle 1995-2020.

We just noticed this very interesting review of macro-level life cycle assessment studies didn't include our paper de Tomás-Pascual et al. (2025) because they made the last search exactly the same day our paper got accepted :_( doi.org/10.1007/s113...

My PhD thesis explored many sectors and methodologies but, ultimately, there was a bit of coherence between some papers following the system of automobility (Sheller and Urry, 2000, Urry, 2004): the coherent system of industries, culture and infrastructure reproducing private car mobility

This has been the last paper stemming from my PhD thesis (although not officially in my dissertation) at @icta-uab.bsky.social . I’m very happy to close that chapter. It started in my research stay at CML Leiden University @unileiden.bsky.social with the contribution of Glenn Aguilar-Hernandez.

What has happened since 2020? What will happen in a future where we can expect that cars are smaller, electric and less? Still lots of questions to answer.

We used @exiobase.bsky.social. The tables after 2020 are not backed by real data yet and we had to stop there our analysis, while we know that the industry has changed substantially since then. But vehicle production in Germany has even slowed down substantially since 2017.

In the paper, there are more results and discussion, including the trends in time 1995-2020, and the resource requirements per vehicle, which are comparable to results in LCA. We add the working time per vehicle, which is about 1400 h/veh and we can assume it to be a relatively good proxy for a car.
