A pink labubu with a white top and jean apron. Apron is tied with a colorful string. The background is blurry.
A photo of two labubus on a denim bag. One labubu looks like a fried tempura the other looks like a sushi chef. The bag and bag charms are resting on a couch cushion.
Happy NY Snowed-In Day! I spent it making my Labubu a little sushi chef outfit to go with his friend 🍤.

The glue is the work
Tech orgs only function thanks to people who volunteer for thankless "glue work." This is the space where UX lives; for the field to get respect we need to make this work visible.
"These meetings are distracting me from the work."
The meetings are the work. Sorry.
The fact that your org doesn't value meetings and doesn't put any effort into making them more effective is a symptom of a broader pattern of ignoring feminized "glue work" in favor of Big Masculine Outputs.

Four people sitting in front of a room with an audience
humbled to be invited to talk about meaningful use cases to use AI during #nytechweek! I also shared things like how the LLM-powered curation tool I built for a large-scale marketplace understood my prompt for *cowboy core collection* as “outfits from the wild west” and not “cool like Beyoncé” 😓

The cake was made by Grand Hyatt Taipei, which makes the most creative and delicious cakes imo. This Hyatt is a great example of Taiwanese branches of global companies being super extra and just 💯. Another more popular example is our 7-11, but that deserves its own post.

A cake with a little miniature chocolate cabbage on top
Happy mother’s day! To celebrate, my brother and I pre-ordered my mom a cake based on the Taiwanese national treasure, the Jadeite Cabbage. It is a symbol of auspiciousness and longevity, which is exactly the vibe we are going for on this day and everyday for our mother 🥬

Truly there *needs* to be a lot of science to turn the awful gasoline taste olives have when eaten straight from the branch to something edible

This has brought me so much joy and encouragement! What a lovely reminder that wonderful things do take time and consistent care to happen, and sometimes we cant even anticipate it.

A elephant ear plant in a white plant pot, with a flower bud in the middle
Our elephant ear sprung up this new “limb”… I then learned that it is actually a flower bud! We have had it for 4 yrs and didn’t even know it *could* flower. Apparently this happens when the plant is mature, cosy & thriving. 😌🌱

A little side table with a green vase filled with yellow and pink flowers. On the right of the vase is a smaller plant.
This is your sign to go treat yourself to a facial and buy flowers on the way home ☺️

Two sets of two lowball glasses filled with a small amount of a light amber liquid, and a deep mahogany liquid, on a wooden tray. The coasters are shaped like toast. Next to them is a bag of Japanese corn snacks and there are houseplants in the background.

A white table cloth with zucchini, scallion bread, apple, sourdough crackers, tomato, and other food items on white plates. There are also smaller eating plates scattered around the table.
Light spread to welcome our friends this weekend- husband’s sourdough crackers, homemade taiwanese scallion buns, upstate apples, and heirloom tomatoes. Also roasted zucchini just so we can say we had vegetables.
