A skin colonizer disrupts inflammatory and humoral immune defenses in hidradenitis suppurativa - EMBO Molecular Medicine Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease associated with a polybacterial dysbiosis devoid of a known pathogen. Here, we report that HS patients mount IgA and IgG responses ...

Model describing how commensal microbes drive the accumulation of Monocytes to the neonatal skin. Depleting these monocytes in the neonatal window leads to an IL-1 dependent aberrant release of IL-17 from cutaneous T cells later in life. This renders mice more susceptible to psoriasiform inflammation in adulthood.

🧠🧬 Psoriasis: Unraveling the Causes of Chronic Itching

@belkaidlab.bsky.social and Institut Pasteur researchers show that an excessive immune response to skin microbes activates the IL‑17A pathway in nerves, leading to chronic itch and nerve regrowth.

Reframing IL-27: a central regulator of CD8+ T cell immunity Interleukin-27 (IL-27), a member of the IL-12 cytokine family, was long viewed primarily as a regulator of CD4+ T cell immunity. Subsequent studies revealed that IL-27 also directly modulates CD8+ T c...
