Looks like the copium (pessimist) versus copium (optimist) war continues on the lore stage.
As an optimist I can't really say who's got the more accurate pov, but I can sorta take a step back and identify who looks miserable

I honestly miss the mission table as another way of name dropping forgotten zones/characters, and telling stories the quest team otherwise doesn't have the resources to tell.

Twitter's trying to tell me the Elven story being rushed "unification" is news, but it's mostly telling me people who don't read quest text like to talk on Twitter

I'd really like to see the Horde/Alliance show up in colors, and I wanna fight alongside them in a fight that makes me feel good.

Blizzard decided to tell a story around the Elven races. IMO, trying to force other races or characters in because "it's been a while" would come off as a forced distraction, again trying to be even-handed with who's represented. When they do that, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Trollbane lamented how unpopular it was to send reinforcements to Khaz Algar (which I think they're still there doing something?). The 'people' don't seem interested in a standing "Horde" or "Alliance" and are isolating outside of emergencies, and even then.
The fatigue is well exampled IMO

I don't blame you for feeling like it's weird that at the very least there isn't some united front where everyone shows up to defend SW knowing the consequences.
But we should also consider the examples of how Azeroth is weary of war these days. SM was only barely tolerating the Army of the Light

Yeah that's where I find it reductive to label a character as faction as if it's their "true" identity. IMO it restricts the writing and feels kinda cringe forcing certain races in, pandering to faction scorekeeping.

Hot take but I kinda like how Blizzard has been mostly unapologetic moving on from the factions since the 4th war and more on specific racial divides.
Meanwhile it's kinda cringe seeing some still doing the faction scorekeeping as if there was ever going to be a winner.
