In the 11 years since my dad died I often find myself wondering how I would explain current events to him but "your footballing hero Matt Le Tissier is arguing with a Nazi robot about chem trails, also he's a Christian now" in a league of its own really
His father is Emeritus Professor of International Social Theory at the University of East London,[6] where he has taught since it was founded as North East London Polytechnic in 1970, devoting his career to French post-structuralist social theory and the work of Pierre Bourdieu.[7][8] His mother was a civil servant, who left her job to raise her children.[9] He was educated at Colfe's School, a private school in Lee, south-east London,[10] and Hertford College, Oxford, where in 1996 he took a BA in PPE.
Absolutely brilliant shot/chaser here
Not very dignified for a senior civil servant to call themselves "Olly" is it. Put on a proper name, do up your tie etc.
good "he's 28 until he turns 29" here
very funny how many bluesky posters seem convinced android supersoldiers are being built specifically to chase and arrest them
If it was running to deliver a doordash burrito they'd be all over it
This definitely matters more either way
Traumatised by something bad that happened to you are we? Well have you considered something worse happened to other people
peter mandelson failed his vetting? wow. i didn’t know that - you’re telling me now for the very first time.
what can you say? the permanent secretary did a terrible job. a terrible man doing a terrible job. i’m actually absolutely furious to hear that. i am furious.
Can confirm they have it in the Borough Hight Street branch if you fancy a trip to SE1
how "furious" was she to find out on a scale of 1 to ten
This is less dignified than that BBC reporter who just stands on the beach in Dover every day counting how many small boats land
Today v much ‘Al Capone Tax Evasion’ day for the Sir Beer Korma truthers amongst us
Yes, the only plausible versions of this where the FCDO acted independently is either they felt significant pressure from no.10 to get the appointment through or they felt it was too late to stop it. Neither looks great for Starmer
Guest on BBC4 right now just said that adopting a dog is not too dissimilar to adopting a child
Palestine cola must respond immediately
Happened to an old school friend when we were all 18 or so trying to break up a fight outside a nightclub, completely senseless.
The Green Party should be worried they might actually win this
These are some actual photographs of the bit of the New Forest that's being split off to be administered from Southampton, including the UK's biggest refinery and a military port. Obviously the article is just pictures of woodland and ponies.

Yes I have had one of the doughnuts before. Let he who is without sin etc.
Cafe opposite Brockley overground that sells £5 vegan doughnuts with a Save Lewisham from Gentrification poster in the window
Amazing how little heat they've got from the press or fans of other clubs, through both their Russian oligarch and now yank consortium ownership phases. Maybe if Wrexham had a nice beach they wouldn't be hated quite so much.
Re: three-sided grounds, the 4th stand at Bournemouth is (still) a temporary one they built in 2013 to cash in on a preseason friendly against Real Madrid they charged £60 a ticket for. So still morally a three-sided ground IMO
sorry boss I can't come in today I saw a small bird in the front garden but wasn't able to see what it was so I will need to wait to see if he comes back
I think there's something strangely heroic about it tbh
UK foreign secretary Yvette Cooper desrcibed the ceasefire as “a vital step” towards security and stability in the Middle East. She said a swift resolution was the best way to improve security and ease the economic impacts caused by the effective closure of the strait of Hormuz. She said the proposed talks between the US and Iran in Pakistan must lead to a “full end to the conflict and ensure that Iran does not continue to threaten the strait or its neighbours”. “I also call for an urgent end to hostilities in Lebanon,” she added.
Always find it disorientating seeing Yvette Cooper's name pop up in these live blogs. I think my brain just refuses to store the fact she's foreign secretary.
Not getting ahead of myself but I think Southampton are probably the best team in the world at the moment?
