Today’s tip: If you expect to burn a candle completely, put an insulating layer of salt, sand, or cat litter between the candle & the dish. Go double if you're using incense charcoal. Use with metal dishes, too, so you don;t scorch the surface under it. #WitchSky #WitchTips #PaganSky #OccultSky

In wrangling dark matter, some scientists find inspiration in the Torah, Krishna and Christ Dark matter and dark energy are mysteries that have confounded scientists for decades, even though they comprise 95% of the universe's mass.

And make sure their words and actions are plausibly the same as a named spirit/deity they claim to be.

"How do you know if you can trust a spirit?"

The same way you learn if you can trust another living person: I take my time to get to know them & study their actions, values, motivations, and goals. You absolutely don't have to immediately trust any spirit who shows interest in you.

No, I learned my chants in the Midwest, East Coast, and the Southeast. I moved around a lot! But since the Reclaiming chants were recorded, a lot of people knew them. Don't worry about music, people will be most comfortable with something simple that they can learn quickly. Think Gregorian!

Library Guides: Evaluating Resources and Misinformation: CRAAP Test Library Guides: Evaluating Resources and Misinformation: CRAAP Test

Witch Tip: One way that you can practice the skill of discernment is to use the "CRAAP Test" to determine whether or not a source of information is trustworthy and viable for your research. It's much harder for misinformation to lead us astray when we take time to evaluate sources first.

That is a great resource, thank you for sharing it!

If you only want recorded music for a particular moment, someone has to detach from the group energy in order to fiddle with controls. Do not like. Live music, though, if the singers/players are in sync with the flow of the ritual, it's lovely. But if a song takes too long, it stops the flow. 4/4

I dislike using recorded music mostly from back in the day when using the controls on cassette or CD players made disruptive click-clunk noises. Of course, if you have music on continuously, you avoid that, but then you have to hope/assume the music matches the flow of the whole ritual. 3/

Fast forward. I now live on the west side of the Rockies (the Continental Divide is real) & hardly anyone knows them. In my private coven, we don't do much singing but I would like to. I use some kind of chanting in big groups because it helps create a group mind. 2/

Interesting question. Back in the day ('80s, '90s) there were chants that most everyone seemed to know. We used those a lot. But that was when we met far more often f2f. Like kids share songs and games in the playground, we learned them from each other. 1/

...directing energy can be done with wands. We spoke of "cutting" a circle (out of ordinary space) or cutting a door in the circle, etc. The people I work with now don't use them much which feels odd to me. You always wore your athame in circle.

I use it to cast circles, to direct energy, to salute the quarters, to draw sigils in the air and sometimes use the broad edge to snuff out candles. It's really an all-purpose tool in the circles in which I was trained. We really didn't use wands, although a number of these things, especially 1/2

Light and Heat go hand-in-hand in physics and the metaphysical. So, if you're not a visualizer, instead of seeing Divinity as Light, it may be easier for you to *feel* Divinity as Heat.

Today’s tip: Focus on quality work over quantity. The conundrum is, it may take a lot of so-so work before you consistently get quality work. Keep at it. But remember, practicing with bad mechanics does not make you a better tennis player.

Today’s tip: It’s perfectly OK to look up Tarot card meanings in the book. Everyone starts that way. In time it’ll come together for you. Over time some cards may talk to you with different meanings; if that works for you it’s good.

You are so right. I've lead rituals from 5 to 500 & more & in both cases you need to keep people engaged with the ritual energy. Of course I could tell some horror stories of public rituals where the facilitators seemed to be doing everything possible to shut the participants out!

It came to TikTok via a TV show. But the issue isn't whether it's traditional, the issue is whether it is strong, clear, and effective. Spells where you are actively doing something have more oomph that spells where you are sitting and watching something. And then there's the fire hazard thing.

With my own layout I usually read reversals for the first few cards and then upright after that. I read reversals as something blocking the energy of the upright card. In some cases, that's good. But I have often told clients that their homework is to turn that card rightside up.

Indeed. That spell is a fire hazard!

I am sure there are people who make it work, but that doesn't mean it's efficient. Cut the danged cord and get it over with!
