Avatar once again is a box office hit and for the life of me I couldn’t name a single character, and I’m willing to bet that describes most people.

I’m not even a hater or anything, just baffling how something this big seems to have so little cultural impact.

Crests are interesting and offer some fun replay potential. Though I wish they were unlocked earlier in the game specifically for that purpose. I’d be excited to try certain sections with different crests, but some of them are locked at that point in the story. Easily solved with a new game+ mode.

The new tools were the biggest offender. There’s an intrinsic balance to HK spells because they share a resource pool with your healing. Silksong tools having a separate pool while offering high damage and range is a misstep. They also lack any visual punch. Very underwhelming addition.

Overall I think it’s a great game with a lot to love. Though at this point, I can safely say I prefer the original. There’s an elegance in HK to the simpler mechanics that made combat and movement feel more satisfying. Silksong offers a lot of things that end up feeling more like feature bloat.

Boss runback lengths are a legitimate complaint. I’ve never understood Dark Souls’ fascination with this. Usually there aren’t many obstacles in your way, so it’s essentially a 30 second loading screen between boss attempts. Either make the runback more difficult or get rid of it.

In general I felt like Hornet’s mobility tools made learning a boss pattern quite a bit easier. Being able to sprint/hookshot away meant that there were some bosses I barely had to engage with while learning their openings (Lace 1 and 2 especially). Better healing made this even more reliable.

Bosses were generally pretty fair, in my opinion, with some exceptions. Once I got the hang of healing in the air, it became pretty clear to me that pokes and tool usage to conserve silk was the safest strategy, and I never had more than probably 5 attempts on any boss.

Complaints about the rosary economy are similarly weird in my opinion. I only once didn’t have enough beads to activate the fast travel, which was annoying since it was in Bilewater and no enemies drop beads there, but that was literally the only time. Where are people losing their beads?

I’m genuinely shocked people find the platforming in Silksong too difficult compared to Hollow Knight.

There are literally crests that turn your down slash back into a pogo, along with a sprint, float, and hook shot tool.

If anything the new tools make the platforming easier than the original

I’ve been irrational and angry thinking about this all day. Doesn’t help that the community has historically let situations like this brew for far longer than they should.

But I don’t want to live in a world where there’s no path to redemption. Hope he recovers, and his community supports him.

I think if someone is in a position of power and has many fans in the community, it's extremely important that any such person sets an example for others and uses that power in a positive way.
Needless to say, I am extremely disappointed today.
