oooh nice yes this looks very good
oh this is literally perfect tysm
i should also add, i could dip my toes into some horror... 2026 is the year of Eating Spicy Food and Reading Scary Books
i love a unique narrative style <3 thank u!

ooooh yes this looks fab, thank you!
yes i love this book!! was one of my top reads of 2025 ๐๐๐
i have, loved it!!
ok i need recommendations for this year's books! the reason i was able to read so much in 2025 was through sheer determination to read the books my friends had recced to me and i would love to have that again. queer rep always preferred, SFF fave genres, but also want to read out of my comfort zone
entangled life (merlin sheldrake) is absolutely fascinating and beautifully written. yes it's about mushrooms but it is ultimately about nature as a whole and how we're all part of it
it was one of my top reads of the year!!
I read a bunch of other great books too but these were my absolute faves ๐ this coming year I want to read more outside of my comfort zone and add poetry to the roster! and get through more nonfiction but I am unfortunately a plot slot. braiding sweetgrass though... im coming for you....
SHE WHO BECAME THE SUN and HE WHO DROWNED THE WORLD by Shelley Parker-Chan - epic, gripping, funny, tense and truly a duology that I could not sleep until I finished. we need more gender fuckery in fantasy and parker-chan absolutely bloody delivered. so much love for these characters
The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez
THE SPEAR CUTS THROUGH WATER by Simon Jimenez - book of the year!!!! left me moved, inspired, delighted, crying and altogether in love. straight to the favourite books list. this is storytelling at its best, and so vivid and immersive it felt like I was feasting the whole way through
Arboreality by Rebecca Campbell
ARBOREALITY by Rebecca Campbell - did not know what to expect from this book, so being left moved and filled with hope and grief by it was A+. really hit me with the power of our personal relationships to the climate crisis and made me feel very proud to be part of a community of hope and resistance
A Prayer for the Crown-Shy by Becky Chambers
A PRAYER FOR THE CROWN-SHY by Becky Chambers - loved the first book in this series, was just as moved by this one as well. I just love the world and the characters that move through it, and how much depth there is in such a narrow little book. cried good tears (as expected)
Entangled Life by Merlin Sheldrake
ENTANGLED LIFE by Merlin Sheldrake - an absolute must read for mushroom fans the world over and nature appreciators in general. took me ages to read because I kept getting my mind blown and having to step away to process everything
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
PIRANESI by Susanna Clarke - I had never read anything like this before, and was absolutely gripped by it. beautiful and haunting, looking forward to rereading
Return of the Thief, Megan Whalen Turner
RETURN OF THE THIEF by Megan Whalen Turner - kicked the year off with this amazing series that I had somehow missed out on until now, absolute bangers and a masterclass is storytelling and political intrigue. this one (the final book) was a particular favourite and such and good & satisfying ending
here is a little thread of my top picks from the year!
