Finally a moiré mug with a handle is finished and glazed! It has a couple fixable flaws but I’m super happy with how this design came out #pottery #slipcasting

Upgrading my banding wheel with a new 3d printed tool for holding mugs… being able to just create new tools is incredibly powerful #pottery #slipcasting

I didn’t know bloating was a possible defect before now, but at least it happened with only the worse of the two glazes.

The first moiré mugs are glaze fired! Super happy with the black slip, I love the contrast. I tried both clear and matte clear glaze; evidently the matte didn’t work out well since it both doesn’t have as much contrast, and resulted in bloating. #pottery #slipcasting

Very pleased with my dark slip test, it got a lot darker in the cone 5 firing! The stuff I’m using for mugs now has 3x as much stain so hopefully the contrast is striking. Also, “matte clear” glaze lightens the color more than I expected, so I might play with non-matte too #pottery #slipcasting

Hahaha, no way this will ever scan. “We do these things not because they are easy, but because we thought they’d be easy”… more development needed! The experimenting and iteration is what makes this hobby fun #pottery #slipcasting

Picked up an actual banding wheel (i just learned these exist), it’s very spinny compared to the jank stand i 3D printed for glazing mugs… #pottery

Cooking something up… it will take a long series of mold making to see if this idea actually works well #pottery #blender
