The only one i did not get was the squirrel from series 2 and honestly i’m okay with what i got

This was mostly based off my own experiences trying to get the animal bakery blind boxes and JSYK wwx got the ones i got (except the series 2 ones i got those bc um an alligator baguette??? Yes pls)

Lwj gingerly took the rabbit, his eyes fixated on it. “…thank you.”

Months later, after lwj and wwx finally get together, their matching rabbits sat at the head of their bed, noses pressed together.

His ears slowly turned a bright red.

Wwx nervously rubbed his nose again, “it’s kinda silly, i know, but when i first saw these, i thought of you as soon as i saw this rabbit and knew you needed to have it. And well,” he shrugged, “now that i got TWO, we can both have one! A matching pair.”

Lwj hummed beside him, “Congratulations.”

Wwx sat up, straightening his back, “you were my good luck charm!” He reached into his bag and picked up one box that had a rabbit in it. He held it out, “For you.”

Lwj blinked, first staring at the rabbit, and then at wwx.

He bounced in his seat. Never in his wildest dreams would he have expected TWO rabbits one after the other.

He gently put the second rabbit in its box and opened the final box.

An elephant.

Wwx sighed as he leaned against the back of his seat. He did it. He got the one he wanted. Twice.

“Lan zhan look! I got it!” He held up the rabbit figure proudly, smile beaming in lwj’s direction. “I can’t believe i finally got one!!!”

Lwj nodded, “you still have two left.”

“Oh,” wwx put the rabbit back in its box, “right, okay.”

He opened the fourth box.

Another rabbit.

“Omg lan zhan.”

He didn’t even react, instead putting the cat back in its box and reaching for the third.

He wasn’t expecting anything. Just one rabbit and he would be happy. Sure he would have liked at least two but…

He tore open the bag and…

“Omg”

Wwx held up the little rabbit figure made of bread.

Wwx rubbed his nose, “ahhh… i guess i can open them here…”

Lwj nodded.

Taking a deep breath, wwx opened the first box.

It was a panda.

He sighed dramatically and gave lwj a playful grin. “See? I have this one already.”

“Mn.”

Wwx opened the next. A cat.

Lwj released his wrist and slowly took the box, turning it around and seeing the list of animals.

“So yeah,” wwx waved a hand, “i was a little excited to see it in the store and hoped MAYBE maybe i would get the one i actually wanted…”

Lwj handed the box back and looked at wwx expectantly.

Wwx groaned as he rummaged through his bag. He lifted up a random blind box. “I’ve been looking for this for ages. I have every single figure except for ONE and…” he sighed, “it’s silly but this is the first time i’ve seen these guys in the wild in MONTHS.”

Lwj’s brow furrowed as he tried to articulate his words. Finally, he opened his mouth.

“Is wy okay?”

“Huh?” Wwx blinked.

Lwj nodded at his bag, “you have been… antsy.”

“Oh.” Wwx rubbed the back of his neck with his free hand. “Um…” he avoided lwj’s eyes, “okay so…”

Once they stopped in front of wwx’s apartment, lwj parked the car, turning in his seat so that he faced wwx.

“Wei ying.”

Wwx waved a hand, “ah lan zhan, thanks for driving me.” He made to open the door.

Lwj’s hand shot out and grabbed hold of wwx’s wrist. Wwx froze.

Once they were done at the bookstore, wwx fidgeted the whole way home, eager to open up the blind boxes to see if he got the elusive rabbit.

Lwj kept sneaking glances the entire drive, obv noticing wwx’s fidgeting

Wwx chuckled nervously as he threw it into the reusable bag jyl insisted he use while shopping. “It’s for a-yuan! He can never have too many toys, y’know??”

Lwj kept quiet, not commenting on how the last time a-yuan showed interest in toys, wwx Did Not buy them, but rather lwj did

And then one day, as wwx was finally able to get lwj to go with him to the bookstore, the series 1 blind boxes were in stock

Well, there were five boxes on the shelf.

Wwx immediately grabbed all five, causing lwj to raise a brow.

(And maybe give the last one to a certain stick-in-the-mud)

To make matters worse, one day as he was out and about, he saw the blind boxes again, except they were for a series 2.

He was still missing a rabbit from the first series!

Wwx was about to cut his losses. It was as if he was never going to get the final animal and complete his set

Still, he displayed his little bread figures on his windowsill. (Except for the dog. He gave that monster to jyl to give to jin ling)

For the next few months, wwx kept an eye out for the blind box series, but to his dismay, they were always out of stock.

He left the dog figures on the floor, instead ignoring it and opening up the rest.

An elephant. A panda. TWO sheep. And one cat with a fish shaped piece of bread.

Wwx groaned as he looked over his spoils. Ofc he wouldn’t get the one actually wanted.

Hopefully… hopefully he had enough luck to get *two* rabbits… one for him and one for…

As soon as he got back to his little apartment, he tore into the first one

And then immediately threw the figure at the wall

Ofc the first one he opens would be… a dog!

One was a dog, complete with a little bone shaped piece of bread. Wwx shuddered and almost put it back down when his eyes caught the rabbit figure again.

With a groan, he picked up all six boxes on display and brought them to the cash register.

One stood out among the rest. A little rabbit that came with an extra little piece of bread in the shape of a carrot.

His mind immediately went to a certain lan as he picked up one of the boxes, turning it this way and that and seeing the other animals in the set.

Wwx didn’t plan on buying the entirety of a certain series of blind boxes at the local bookstore. He was there for something completely unrelated.

And then he saw them.
