I also play with the saturation, saturation is going to help the viewer to focus more at one point. In this case I want to focus on his face and torso and not so much in the tail and hair

I try to choose a base color (blue) that is going to pop out the most and then I pick a complement color like orange. In this case orange wasn’t enough so I’m playing with colors close to orange in the color wheel like red and yellow. I do the same with the blue, picking green for example.
