Because I used to think that a validated reality was the same thing as a shared one.

But sometimes, trying to be as close as you possibly can is exactly why you don’t see the same things.

If you keep walking…you can clumsily stumble into a place where your sense of the world is no longer predicated on anyone else seeing it the same way you do.

Makes me wonder how often proximity gets mistaken for actual understanding. Curious how others read that scene.

The payoff has definitely been the main character’s brief encounter with his estranged mother… it’s one of those moments where you realize how little shared language there can be between people who are supposed to be connected. 🤓
