A little while ago I revisited a game from my childhood called "Aladdin in Nasira's Revenge", a 3D platformer from 2000 made by Argonaut Games (the devs of Croc)!
I turned the experience into a video that I can finally share with y'all! You can find it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDSt...

WHY IS THIS THE THUMBNAIL
Today's Storebound performance will be delayed to next week, so we fall back to a regular Full-Steam Saturday! As always starting with trucks and philosophy.

ALRIGHTY WE DOIN' IT AGAIN!
Valentine's Day may have passed, but BIRD DAY is May 4th, so you have until then to send your OCs/sonas as well as what they would do on a date (be descriptive)! These will be rated with our trusty heat gauge (the date is most of the points!)

I hear you thinking "Really, Rico? SOMA is the game you think everyone should play?"
Yes! I've never seen a game explore the mind-body problem so thoroughly, from so many different angles, in such an oppressive setting. And thanks to Safe Mode, you can play it without monsters running at you.
I have a lot of nostalgia for Aladdin in Nasira's Revenge. So much that I played it on stream a few months ago, and then made a video about it.
I wish to point out that one of the Greek root words for "nostalgia" is "pain".
Best Retro Game was yet another difficult pick. In the end I went with Paper Mario, because I was very young when I played it, and the journey was absolutely magical. TTYD is funnier and more creative, but the original has a magic that is unmatched and continues to inspire so many RPGs today.
Snowrunner is my comfort game. I love booting it up just to chill or to hang out with my friend and talk about random stuff.
Hunt: Showdown is a game that I only really want to play with friends, because it is so much fun. When I play solo it turns into a horror game!
I love playing a lot of different games with other people, including a lot of friendslop. But there is just no friendslop quite like R.E.P.O., even with total strangers.
But it could've also been Deadlock. Which I put under "not usually my thing" bc I never thought I would like a MOBA.
Picking favourite soundtrack was just as hard as picking favourite game, because I love music in general and especially video game music. In the end I went with Danganronpa 2 because not a single song on the OST misses. But it could've easily been Cuphead, or Deathbulge, or FFXIV, or so many others.
Back when I played Va-11 Hall-A, I was in college, and so hearing Jill's struggle with the question what she was doing it all for really resonated with me. Besides that her deadpan sarcasm is just really funny.
As for Portal 2... It could've been Portal 1. You know why it won Favorite Antagonist.
Deathbulge: Battle of the Bands is my favourite RPG of 2023, the year that Baldur's Gate 3 came out. It is charming, the battle systems is awesome (using the cooldown bar to your next turn as part of the combat mechanics), the music kicks ass, and the writing is great and incredibly witty. Play it!
I couldn't get into Nier: Automata. I'm sorry. It's probably a me thing.
Timesplitters: Future Perfect was the first twin-stick shooter my brother and I played, and it blew my mind. On top of being incredibly fun it also had a great story and was just really, really funny
Ixion is also a very flawed game, but I really liked it a lot. The game did a great job of selling the hopelessness of your situation: cut off from Earth in a prototype FTL colony ship that breaks down a bit more every time you attempt another FTL jump, following a tiny trail of hope among the stars
I suck at Ultrakill and even I can tell how fucking awesome the combat is, especially after finding the alt versions of the weapons.
And I feel like people hate Metroid Prime 4 a bit too much. It had some really high peaks, and the valleys are just aggressively mid at worst.
