As we mark the 10th anniversary of Black Maternal Health Week, we reaffirm the need for sustained investment, accountability, and equitable access to care. Every New Yorker deserves a safe, healthy start. Learn more NYC.gov/healthynyc more info.
Black Maternal Health Week is a call to action. In New York City, Black non-Hispanic women are about five times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white non-Hispanic women. That disparity is unacceptable, and preventable.
Proud to stand with @32BJSEIU as they fight for a fair contract. More than 34,000 residential building service workers, including porters, doorpersons, and superintendents, are demanding the healthcare coverage they deserve and wages that allow them to afford to live in this great city.

Shows a NYC street with a headline from Crain's New York Business that reads "New York City's Small Business Forward program failed to help small businesses, review finds.
Quote from NYC Comptroller Mark Levine that reads, “Small Business Forward was a well-intentioned program designed to cut red tape and fines that are hurting small businesses. But without a clear definition of what a small business is or data to track its success, it’s hard to understand what impact this initiative had. To preserve jobs, help small-business owners, and continue to drive down storefront vacancies, this report can serve as a roadmap for the city to ensure this initiative is a success.”
A City initiative launched in 2022 promised to make life easier for small businesses, but did it actually deliver? A new report from the NYC Comptroller’s Office found that the Small Business Forward program fell short of its mission in cutting red tape and reducing fines.
