I didn't know Notes started this trend, but a comparison I heard resonates with that: A build stuff for non CS people like Excel...
Or as a product person mentioned: look long enough at which problems ppl try to solve with Excel and you might find product ideas with a user base estimate

Not only the search index but also 25 years of experience identifying shitty websites created only to influence search created for economic gain as well as political motivation.
Thank you and the same to you!
Looks like a lot of fun 😊

I do like the taxonomy. One thing I wonder: A lot of these models are trained on non curated content available on the public internet. Wouldn't it make sense to also look at what can be done by targeted poisoning of that data?
So beautiful!
Our grad-level "Deep Learning" course (MIT's 6.7960) is now freely available online through OpenCourseWare: ocw.mit.edu/courses/6-79...
Lecture videos, psets, and readings are all provided.
Had a lot of fun teaching this with @sarameghanbeery.bsky.social and @jeremybernste.in!
Do you feel like culture and society are going down the drain?

This is quite amazing. Much has been said about the early anticipation of AI with Jorge Luis Borges "Library of Babel", but that shortstory actually had a precursor with Kurd Laßwitz' german shortstory about the "Universal Library". projekt-gutenberg.org/authors/kurd...
It's shockingly cheap to dismantle surveillance systems. You can poison them in your free time.

There is a real innovation opportunity here. Over-priced bloatware, cloud services and slop engines are ripe for replacement. EU has talent and core infrastructure to do it.

I am looking for a graduate-level intern for next summer to work with my team on large-scale security systems.
If you do large-scale data, formal methods, distributed systems, computer security or anything related, ping me. Or just apply before mid-March.

Also I do hear Devs complain about slop. I also do hear them complain when books they wrote are used for training. I also hear them complain when AI is trained on all sorts of source code with unclear license provenance - and then used for code that before was written in clean room settings.
Code that's publicly available often is not directly monetized. Think Mozilla's Open Source archetypes.
Developers may not complain, but their employers do have all sorts of barriers in place that prevent commercially important code to find it's way into models.
Never too old to learn new tricks. Well done from you.
This reads like a very exciting and successful year! 🎉
We’re looking back on a successful and exciting year! From local events in Berlin to a (nearly) 24-hour global broadcast, 2025 was all about bringing communities together.
We’ve put together a full recap: plainschwarz.com/2025-reflect...
👏👀 A sea of crystal clear takeaways from @afelia.bsky.social on emotions in politics:
"There is an important lesson for Western democracies learned from right-wing populists: politics is not just about rationality, it is also emotion. And we should not allow the right wing to monopolize emotions".
Wohoo!
