These beautiful animals started my love for genetics and genomics.

The Young Scientist Program & WashU DBBS had a great turnout yesterday at our Scientist in Training event. We gave out school supplies and did some fun experiments for St Louis students, to make going back to school easier for those affected by the tornado in May.
My piece for the McClintock Letter Initiative was published today! www.buckscountyherald.com/opinion/gues... Thank you to @cornellasap.bsky.social and @sciencehomecoming.bsky.social and others for helping me get involved
"According to demographic data NSF collects on all its principal investigators (PIs), 58% of the grants canceled to date were led by women, although only 34% of the total pool of active NSF grants have women as PIs."

"Women are PIs on 58% of the canceled grants, although they are PIs on only 34% of all active NSF grants.
Similarly, Blacks are PIs on 17% of the terminated grants, although they make only 4% of the total pool. Hispanic PIs and those with disabilities were twice as likely to lose a grant."

An important point getting overlooked:
When NIH cancels "diversity" grants (e.g., diversity supplements, Fs, Ks, etc), they aren't canceling the grants based on *what* the grant studies.
They're cancelling them based on *who* is doing the research. And that disallowed "who" is anyone not white.
"If science is to honour one of its core values — a commitment to the truth wherever it might lead — scientists must stand up when DEI matters"

I was wondering if you knew of any similar efforts for tracking cuts to REUs and post-bac programs? This is going to deeply affect young researchers
I created a brief spreadsheet of reductions I've heard of so far. Any additions you know of (especially if you have the links/receipts) would be great: docs.google.com/spreadsheets...
