Finally caught back up on CR campaign 4 in time for tonight. The Seekers table was just okay, but the Schemers have been exquisite!

NEW: A new pre-print study offers the first causal evidence that outsourcing reasoning tasks to AI can rapidly erode users' independent performance AND their will to persist despite difficulty.

INTRODUCTION TO SPHERICAL HARMONICS FOR GRAPHICS PROGRAMMERS
finally done.

Watching Zoe teach Erin how to play Pokopia and it’s beyond adorable 🥰
Also catching the occasional “Let’s get this place HUMID!” from Zoe
I don't use it / don't know any writers who are using it (AFAIK). I started my career as a designer who wrote average dialogue as part of my job and over the past ~25 yrs have moved on to writing above average dialogue. I don't feel enticed to use it. I'd rather continue to slowly improve on my own.
Does this handle HLSL implicit int-to-float conversions? Like:
float x = 1;
I wrote a dirty HLSL to GLSL converter a while back and ended up skipping that kind of stuff to get it up and running.
Wyatt up, positive Zolara forward, as god intended
The other day Zoe found a little X/Y/Z axis prop Erin uses for class and decided to name the axes.
X = Alexander
Y = Wyatt
Z = Zolara
I will be using these exclusively for the foreseeable future.
I AM HOLDING A LOVELY TRANS FLAG AND DECLARING THUS: HOORAY FOR MY NICE TRANS FRIENDS!!

Placeholder assets in a game should look obnoxiously temporary, so obvious that no one would mistake it for the final asset. In past games we've used the doge dog (rip) as an icon, hot pink versions of characters, our CEO's head, etc.
If you use a temp asset that seems passable, it may stay there.
"We were at the beach"
Setting the scene
"Everybody had matching towels"
Odd detail, but ok
"Somebody went under a dock"
Rising action, I'm back in
"And there they saw a rock"
A rhyme! And an enigma. I'm invested now. Weave me a yarn of mysterious dock rocks.
"It wasn't a rock!"
Motherfucker
Rock Lobster. I worked at a KB Toys for a few years and it played probably 10 times during a shift. I die a little every time I hear it.
Yikes! Thanks for the heads up
INCEL OFF / INCEL ON
I was asked to give my thoughts on generative AI usage in games - here they are!
It is *fascinating* to me how quickly some people have gone completely from “we all must work in the office! human collaboration is vital and only happens in person!” to “I can replace all these pesky people with chatbots!” Definitely some commentary there about our society and who gets to choose.

Just some HLSL this time :-) Not a long form post, I've been reading PBR and maybe this will be helpful to share!
Earlier Zoe asked if we could get an ‘intendo Switch 2 for her birthday so she could play Pokémon.
So that’ll be here Wednesday 😎
the dialogue in this photo is literally beyond parody
This is going to be the game that makes be buy a Switch 2, huh?
Did you unlock them already? How far in does that happen? I haven't had much time to play yet 😞
Ah yeah that makes sense. I misread the initial post and thought you were doing shading too
Can you break the rasterize and shading up into two compute passes? Maybe have the first write out a set of coords that actually need shading, plus total X/Y counts and then do an indirect dispatch for the second pass?
Zoe asked what we could do this evening. I told her the new World of Warcraft "update" came out. She got *very* excited.
So I played through the intro while she sat on my lap and called out when my health was low 🥰🥲 That's my girl!
