Once again this year, it was fun to wake up in the early hours of the morning, armed with a chair to sit in line. It was cool to talk with others about what they wanted and about music in general. If only the sky weren’t so grey and it wasn’t drizzling.

I picked up a brand new copy of Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails. They were on my mind because of that new Nine Inch Noize release and because this great album turned 19 recently!
The last vinyl I purchased was Imagination by Brian Wilson.
Going to admit, not my favorite Brian Wilson release. There’s a couple cool songs here, but the production and pivot into Adult Contemporary doesn’t really work for me. But I figured, hey, I’m ok with adding some Brian to the pile.
I also picked up this cool release of Talking Heads’ CBS/Columbia Demos.
Very cool listen this one is. Imagine the awkward punk-adjacent energy of Talking Heads 77 but less refined and even more loose. Psycho Killer having a different second verse caught me off guard in a good way too.
Now here is End of Asia by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Danceries
I must also credit @phazontunic.bsky.social for pointing this one out too. They previously suggested Thousand Knives which was fantastic, which has sent me on the slow journey of listening to Sakamoto’s discography. Excited for this!
Next is For The Roses by Joni Mitchell.

This one is on rose colored vinyl with the original, rejected cover drawn by Joni.
Next up is the first solo album by the great Bill Bruford, Feels Good To Me.
Devilishly delicious jazz fusion grooves everywhere on this record. There’s a delightful mania found in songs like Beelzebub and the title track and I love the deep hypnotic bass of Back To The Beginning.
Excerpts I got as an odd curiosity. It is a single disc edit of Outside that cuts out six whole tracks, meaning it is around a half hour shorter.
Sacrilegious as I think the story doesn’t work nearly as much without the full picture, but it’s still cool to make I’m Deranged the closer.
Starting with two David Bowie releases centered around my favorite album of his, Outside: Excerpts From Outside and Hallo Spaceboy.
Purely picked up because of my affinity for Outside. Hallo Spaceboy is the more important pickup, as it compiles the Pet Shop Boys remixes of the titular song.

I’ve been taking notes while doing this to see if I can do something with it later, because I really need to stress how bad Action 52 is on the Genesis. The NES version is infamous enough for anyone to sniff out the awfulness by name alone, but wow, this is embarrassing.
For some reason I decided it would be a good idea to do the achievements for Action 52 on Genesis. This RNG is from hell and I’m baffled that a dev team made this and said, “Yeah…this is good enough, ship it.”
