The robot thing refers to the /r9k/ (Robot 9000) board on 4chan, which unintentionally became the incel board. It was later shut down.

Re: Fred being a lonely wizard. That's a reference to Wizard Chan. He used to be a admin of the incel BBS forum. The lore was, if you’re still a virgin after the age of 30, you gain wizard powers.

Fred Brennan lived out much of his youth as a lonely wizard. For a time, he tipped his fedora as a supreme gentleman (supporting the Elliot Rodger murder spree).
