🏥 People with HIV who are virally suppressed have an undetectable amount of the virus in the blood and will not transmit HIV to sexual partners, a concept known as Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U).
🏥 Among adolescents and young adults who know their status, 82% were linked to HIV medical care in 2023, and about 69% were virally suppressed.
🏥 Only 6% of high school students have been tested for HIV. About 44% of adolescents and young adults with HIV do not know they have it. Youth need to know their HIV status to stay healthy.
🏥 In 2022, adolescents and young adults (aged 13 to 24 years) accounted for 19% of all new diagnoses.
