New profile pic just dropped! π I couldn't shave the beard and leave up the pic with the scruff so this is what you get to look at when you see me online for the next few months. π€£

Everyone should read this.
That was close! The one immediately before this was... π€£
No cheating. You're just saved celebrity pic is your therapist.
It's sad that this space will no longer exist but so wonderful that it no longer needs to.
For the first time since we've been here, Emma brought me her bear to play with! πΆπ§Έπ₯Ή
A kid who saw her on the street called her "a small dingo" the other day! π€£ But to my knowledge, she's 100% Shiba Inu, though she's never had a DNA test. It would be pretty surprising if a dog from America had dingo in her!
Some have given me lifts or a place to stay. Some are helping in the job search. Many of my friends have offered encouraging words when I have felt lost and overwhelmed.
Emma today seemed much more at home here now. I realized that I do too. And I have great people in my life to thank for that.
This is the date USA celebrates Thanksgiving. That's not a thing in Australia. But I still wanted to let you all know that I am thankful for everyone who has been supportive and helped me and Emma make this move around the world.
PUPDATE: Emma was released from quarantine today! She didn't recognize me when they first let her out of her crate. When she finally did get close enough to sniff me, she flipped out! π We took her to a park until she finally settled down and relaxed. Now she's snoozing at our AirBnB.
One Emma, for reference... π
PUPDATE: Emma approved for release from quarantine on Thursday! I'm so relieved and excited. Almost there.
Going to P-FLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) and meeting other parents who'd been through the same things really brought them to a more understanding place. To the point that they both ended up marching in the Pride Parade with P-FLAG.
My parents weren't anti-gay or unaccepting when I came out but they didn't understand being gay.
They had stereotypical parent reactions: "Maybe you just haven't met the right girl." "Once you get into that lifestyle it's hard to get out.", etc.
This just popped up for me on Facebook for some reason and I had to share. π€£ This is me and my Mum at San Diego Pride. I don't remember the exact year but would have been 1990, give or take.
Iβll put this here so I can go back and keep referencing this.
Hello Australia! I made it to Melbourne and I might be having an adult beverage or two with an old friend.
This just popped up in my Facebook Memories. Just a coincidence that it should come up on the day I make my return to Australia?? Yes, probably... But I choose to take it as good omen! π¦πΊπ³οΈβπ
Bronze Scion Release Series 4.0 car sitting on a suburban driveway.
Moving Milestone! My trusty 2006 Scion xB Release Series 4.0 that I bought brand new in February 2007. It has been my everyday car for nearly 18 years! Today I sold it as one of the last things I had to do before leaving for Australia. It's the first time I haven't owned a car in about 25 years!
I finally deactivated my Twitter account this morning. I haven't used it in over a year but just left it there. I don't need to bring that dumpster fire with me as I restart life in Australia.
I've cancelled my subscription to
@washingtonpost.com . This decision in a year when one of the candidates is literally the least qualified person, and biggest threat to constitutional order, EVER to be nominated is unconscionable. I can't with the kowtowing to the billionaire oligarchs.
My second computer was a Commodore 64. It had 64kb of RAM. My *first* computer was a Commodore VIC-20 because my parents thought the C-64 was too expensive. The Vic-20 had 5kb of RAM.
This lawsuit alleges discrimination against LGBT educators, community organizations, and books with LGBT content.
NOT in some deep red bastion. But right here! Grossmont high school district borders the City of San Diego, with its gay mayor, just a few minutes walk from my own gay house!
