Thank you to the team at SRBL for two fantastic days in Glasgow! Very grateful to be invited as an ECR Keynote to share my PhD research and experience.
Great insightful discussions, including the importance of PPI and self-care in suicide prevention research #EMCRF25
@mollymccarthy.bsky.social shared her experience and results from her recently completed PhD on self-harm and suicide in NHS emergency departments whereby huge discrepancies in coding practices were observed and ideas to address structural barriers were generated alongside staff and stakeholders!
Brilliant evening at the @innovationnwc.bsky.social awards #NWCawards 🥂An amazing honour to win the Ruth Young Award for Research Implementation and Impact for our work on preventing suicide within schools. Super proud to be part of team MAPSS @ljmuimpact.bsky.social @ljmuofficial.bsky.social

Currently, I am working with a great team at LJMU on #MAPSS, a randomised control trial examining a school-based suicide prevention programme. The trial is currently taking place across UK secondary schools and I look forward to updating as we progress! (6/6)

I’m a mixed-methods researcher, utilising qualitative and quantitative data to create fuller understandings. I am also passionate about public and patient involvement, ensuring research is informed by the best interests of the groups the research seeks to help.

My PhD set out to examine how to improve emergency department (ED) coding practices for people in suicidal crisis, looking at staff decision-making and factors which influence patient care:

I’m also particularly interested in reducing health inequalities, with a strand of my work exploring suicide risk amongst deprived communities.
