a good thing about today: I noticed the lilacs are blooming and spotted a lot of them while driving around

one day maybe my partner and I will be able to afford our own place, but it won't be particularly soon with this dog shit housing market and general economic woes across the country

Well, she hates change if anyone *else* suggests it, really. She buys new stuff constantly and it's why the house is full of teetering piles of her purchases... but if I suggest we buy a new shower curtain, that doesnt go over well...

I hope she continues to work on that because there's still a lot of junk out there. Her husband (my partner's dad) dislikes it and is putting his foot down a bit. Now that the weather is nicer, maybe progress will be made

On the bright side, she finally took a lot of the trash that was sitting in the backyard to the dump

she doesn't like me doing these things for her, but she also doesn't throw those things out when they become smelly and rotten.
She won't wash her own dishes, but gets annoyed sometimes that I put them all in the dishwasher (because I want clean dishes to eat off of!!)

Sigh it's just hard...
she buys lots of food that she lets rot/mold that I usually end up throwing out...
and houseplants I have to take care of or they die...
and garden plants she leaves indoors until THEY die, unless I go outside and plant them for her...

my partner's mom really dislikes when I bring up that something in the house (where we all live) is broken or unusable bc she hates change and would prefer to just live with carpets that have no backing left on them (trip + fall hazard!), shower curtains full of mold (that won't wash out), etc...
