YoVideogames Podcast Episode 518: Larian and the Ethics of Using Generative AI Ever! YouTube video by YoVideogames

It has not been a great week for Larian, but it makes for an excellent spring board into the ever present topic of generative AI and its ethical use in an artistic medium, even in pre production! We talk all about it in this weeks YoVideogames Podcast! youtu.be/vKBaSdlQriY

The hand made gifts will continue until she begs me to stop or kills me with them.

*handles. I don’t own a forge, or a grinder so I bought blades from a couple companies known for good knives and I’m making the handles by hand using my woodworking hand tools.

It’s feeling like fall and that means two things:

Best time of year to hike - foggy mornings, cool breezes.

Time to start making Christmas gifts.

Last year I made bokken. This year I’m gonna make knives.

YoVideogames Podcast Episode 505: Nintendo's Bizarre Direct YouTube video by YoVideogames

Nintendo had a very bizarre direct yesterday, instead of swinging for the fences and showing off its big dick energy... they sold use expensive plastic and add ons? and games that could CLEARLY still run on Switch 1. this week on the YOVG Podcast! youtu.be/QjagU9SWuv8

YoVideogames Podcast Episode 503: Old Men Yell at Popular Games! YouTube video by YoVideogames

This weeks episode features two old men crashing out over popular games that confuse us (or fill us with rage :P)

Shout out to @mortemcfly.bsky.social who remembered the terrible song we used to sing during the live shows: it’s “I Got Bitches” by A2M

Doing a lot better today. The fatigue and brain fog part of COVID lingered much longer than I expected but I think it’s finally clearing up. Thank you for asking!

There’s more to it than just a clone, obviously - more detailed speculation, here:

Not sure how I feel about the PS6 handheld rumors. On the one hand I think handhelds are cool. On the other: we know this is just gonna be Sony’s steamdeck/switch clone.

Add to it that they will release a more powerful home console as well… Not sure I find it exciting.

I’m on the mend from COVID! Still fatigued and brain fogged some, but will hopefully be back to writing (and recording!) tomorrow.

Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

Oh you use a notes app?

Well, iiiiiii’m a romantic. I use a system of three notebooks for scratch ideas, world building and outlines and then compile them into a cleaner notebook in case I have to show someone else those notes.

My only hesitation is if the port phoned it in on the controller mapping the game will be hell lol

- gameplay crafted with confidence and not chasing last years trend.

I’d have to give it more thought to offer a complete answer but off the top of my head? For a shooter?
- mechanics that encourage creative/lateral thinking (rather than one clear meta)
- level design that is curated with flow in mind.
- game modes created to suit levels, rather than vice versa.

For me? Yes. I loved that game. Online especially. Probably the most fun I’ve ever had with a battlefield tbh.

9 months ago 1 0 1 0

I dunno if anyone would call this game a 10/10 but I played the absolute hell out of this on GameCube.

9 months ago 3 0 2 0

Nothing wrong with that tbh. Probably saves you time and cash because you don’t fall into hype buys.

My dad rushed in and jumped onto the bed my brother and I were in to cover us from debris.

Hell of a memory. Keep an emergency bag.

My wife teases me about it sometimes, but I’ve kept a little 3 day emergency kit since I was a kid.

I was six during the Northridge earthquake. I remember waking up and seeing a crack in the ceiling, a dresser thrown across the room and flipped over.
