And now listening to the audiobook of the Wee Free Men, I’d clearly forgotten the great pains he went to describing the pun. Doh.

After reading and re-reading pTerry’s Diskworld books for most of my life, I’m still finding things both cunningly hidden and blazingly obvious. Only just seen the pun in Mistress Tick (doh!) #diskworld #pTerry

I went through such a loop looking up references, then references of reference, then references of references of references - in the hope I’d find some ur-reference document which would explain everything. Only took me a year to get out of that.

But yea, most rewarding thing I’ve ever done

Nerds assemble! I need recommendations for a speaker who can talk not only about the growth in awareness of ADHD/autism in the UK, and the importance of accommodations etc., but also the sociological aspects of underdiagnosis/stigma in women/minority communities etc.

Pls repost for wider reach, ta.

Folks, I’m seeing a lot of people saying “well, company x has my biometrics/PII why should I care if company y does?”

You should care about *every* company that has your data because they will eventually be compromised, and your data will be sold and exploited.

I watched a dodgy recording of Spinal Tap on VHS at least once a week in 1988 …

Tbh in the last few years the shows I’ve seen again and again (and almost accidentally so) are on tv channels with infinite Columbo and Murder She Wrote reruns.

two men are standing next to each other with the words " it 's such a fine line between stupid and clever " Alt: Nigel Tufnell and David St Hubbins, two guitarists from the band Spinal Tap are standing next to each other one says " it 's such a fine line between stupid and …” the other chips in with “clever"

Movie you've watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (either War or Trek), LOTR, or Marvel

the far right is arguing we should ban brown people from being MPs and the girl guides and the WI are banning trans women from being members. the consensus opinion from those with power seems to be that offering any opposition would threaten their own position and so is, regrettably, not worth it.

Ah but we’re in the goldfish memory, 24-news cycle, spite and vibes media landscape now. It’s over, and cards against humanity won.

Love el cattos. Our latest came to live on the balcony then slowly adopted us. Oscillates between feral apex predator and two eyes just seen in a hiding place. Love the sound of him coming home and miaowing just to check we’re here (and he can safely ignore us)

Just wilful performative cruelty that is entirely out of step with the majority of British people.

How many Labour MPs got into politics in order to vote for stealing jewellery off of people seeking refuge from war and persecution?

“But he read the book the way the fertilizer man reads reports; he did not read it as a book. I, for example, would like to read Fitzgerald’s ‘Tender Is the Night’ as slowly as possible. In fact, I would pay vast sums for anyone to teach me to read the books I love at a snail’s pace.”
