This is something that has been on my mind for years.
Media rubs me the wrong way (often) - but especially with their obsession with printing names and faces of people experiencing their own personal hell.
It is not humane.

You don’t have to do your own post about everything! You can instead share good information from a better-informed source! Thank you for coming to my ted talk!
Fuck yeah @abortionsquad.bsky.social
hi can people please stop sharing the link of jonathan mitchell's latest terror complaint bc it has the pregnant woman's name in it. I'm working on redacting and uploading
We can and should hold "our team" to a higher standard. Your substack is called Repro Rights; lead by example! @autonomynews.co does it and so can you.
You are actively sharing someone's private medical information. It should never have been made public to begin with, and two wrongs don't make a right.
So link to a brief with her name redacted.
Please reconsider your decision to print her name. It's absolutely unnecessary.
Reddit is the only place we rely on for advice based on real experiences. Product reviews, troubleshooting, vacation spots, history, even *medical information*. It doesn’t prioritize monetizing your question. Thanks to @abortionsquad.bsky.social you can even get fast, accurate abortion info there.
You could die of cringe posting about how you're a "nibling" looking for help from an "auntie" or you could visit r/abortion and get your questions answered by a trained volunteer without any infantilization at all
Find someone who loves you as much as people on random subreddits love to recommend r/auntienetwork whenever someone mentions abortion
“What is a crisis pregnancy center? That’s what it says on Yelp and now I’m really confused.”
“There are many definitions. We are an abortion coordination service. Pregnancy crises is just a listing category for search engines. Don’t be confused. Don’t over think it.”
Me for @autonomynews.co
Most of the time I am told that there isn’t enough capacity to update the maps. Sometimes I’m encouraged to email them with all of my corrections.
And your maps... are not even up to date...
Begging repro orgs to ditch the maps and bring back the fact sheets... please...
We have explained this to said orgs time and time again. We also send them corrections on a regular basis, but the errors are still there.
Overall it would just be great if all abortion-related news media were produced with the idea in mind that the person reading it might someday need an abortion
Seeing a lot of coverage about the closure of Boulder Abortion Clinic. I’m grateful for the abortion I received there 9 yrs ago. But I wish the stories included that there are great all tri clinics with competent providers (who are younger and most of them women) where people receive excellent care.
Here's the complaint in the parental involvement case: www.courts.mo.gov/fv/c/Petitio...
And a good story about it in the Missouri Independent: missouriindependent.com/2025/04/30/a...
NEW: Right By You, a youth-focused abortion access organization, is filing a lawsuit to challenge the Missouri laws that require parental involvement in abortion decisions for young people and ban helping young people access abortion (referred to as "abortion trafficking" in the law).
To my repro folks: panic is not a strategy. Instead support the experts on the ground w/ regular monthly $$ so that they can focus on the work. I'll be upping my recurring donations and you should too. My faves:
