Feeling down about the way that your government functions? In need of some bipartisan Peace on Earth? Join me tomorrow (Tuesday, December 16th) at Chicken and Pickle where I’ll be a guest panelist for the December meeting of The Tuesday Project. We’ll be in their festive private indoor room. #ksleg

I’m a wholesome kind of gal I guess
Today in Tax committee, I met someone who used to follow me on Twitter, but isn’t on it anymore. She was super-nice, and was wearing a cute houndstooth jacket, and I was so flustered by her kind words that I forgot to ask her name. So, if you’re on here, thank you for making my day! 💙💙💙 #ksleg
Just a test post to see if anyone will interact. #ksleg
We often encourage people to Make Something Of Themselves. But, when we have an irrational amount of fees added for arbitrary reasons for allegedly public institutions, it sets up a system in which it bars many from even applying. I hope someone can make it make sense. #ksleg
I also need to know why students need to pay for transcripts for these now irrelevant classes. For unexpired courses, I get it. But, if the course is no longer relevant, why is there a transcript fee? #ksleg.
Mark your calendars!
Upcoming Senate 8 and Friends town halls.

Higher Ed people: can you tell me why:
College credits expire? If a course was completed and the work was done and the grade earned, and the money spent, then why? #ksleg
Later this week, I’ll be a panelist at both of these events. #ksleg
I’m on my way to ALEC, not because I agree with what comes out of there, but because only a fool would skip an opportunity to learn what legislation is coming in 2026.
Lady next to me on the plane just crossed herself and got out the rosary beads so that’s how it’s going.
I’m going to this tonight. You should, too. #ksleg
Finally, I’ll add this: one of the leading causes of death for pregnant women is being murdered, often by their romantic partner.
I would argue that maybe if we treated women like people, instead of sources of unpaid labor, then our entire society would thrive.
It costs nothing to show compassion and decency to a pregnant woman.
We hear about how much treatment for ppd and related conditions costs. And, I’ve got a fiscally conservative solution for all of you:
If a pregnant or postpartum woman admits that she’s struggling, usually the first thing that people do is shame her for being anything other than happy.
I don’t know, maybe so many women have postpartum issues because we are socialized to treat wives and mothers like slaves.
And I strongly support all screening and funding and support for postpartum depression, psychosis, etc. BUT
Most of the sessions are health care and mental health related. We are just now finishing up a session on screening for postpartum depression treatment.
I’m at the Women in Government national conference in St Louis. I’m going to post some things about it on here, but I don’t expect anyone to see or interact, because BlueSky is basically screaming into the void. 🤷♀️
I’m looking forward to participating in this event with other electives and advocates! I hope to see you there! #ksleg
Olive hasn’t left my side since I came home last night. This morning she’s helping me write bill briefs and my #ksleg newsletter. Dogs always know.
As well as a bill intro from Kobach’s office re: immigration, establishing E-verify. #ksleg
Also bill into from Kobach’s office putting E-verify in place. Given yesterday’s events, this does not surprise me, but I oppose this policy. #ksleg
Good morning, #ksleg. Several bill intros in Fed and State, including Convention of States, National Heritage Areas…
I’m fine. It’s my job to look after you guys and make sure that you’re doing all right
So…how is everyone doing? I know I’m just #ksleg, but I thought I’d check up on folks. It’s been a Day.
And, yes, I know that the bill only concerned State devices, and not the actual banning of the app for private use. But, boy, when you read the quotes in the article, it certainly sounds like talking points we hear today. #ksleg
Proud to be one of the few who voted no. www.kslegislature.gov/li_2024/b202... #ksleg
