Federal Agents Arrest Don Lemon Over Minnesota Church Protest

This arrest of @donlemonofficial.bsky.social is shocking but it is all in their heinous playbook — state run media and a quashing of those who will not comply. Masks off for them and gloves off for us www.nytimes.com/2026/01/30/u...

It Was the Most Violent Prison in America. Then the Guards Went on Strike What happens when a group of incarcerated men are left to self govern? In Walpole State Prison in 1973, “peace reigned”—until the guards were sent back in.

I always recommend people spend less time consuming news and more time with long form journalism. Well, this is one of the best things you'll read. It's a hopeful story that has long been inspiring to me, and it's told beautifully here: www.gq.com/story/walpol...

Blurred lines: how Michael Wolff aspired to be part of elite circles he wrote about The writer who features prominently in newly released Jeffrey Epstein emails has achieved extraordinary access but faced questions about his journalistic ethics

Michael Wolff tried to buy New York Mag — with money from Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Epstein.

So Wolff didn't just have a reporter-source relationship with Epstein. Nor was Wolff his informal PR adviser. They saw each other as potential business partners.

Seattle's Mamdani is winning by an absurdly small margin over our incumbent mayor, who once pulled a gun on a pregnant woman in a parking lot.

Most people don’t know that with SNAP you are banned from buying “foods that are hot at the point of sale”. So even if you have SNAP (which people don’t now) you can’t get cooked food. Which means you need to also actually have the resources to PREPARE a “healthy” meal.

Game company sows misinformation to cover up union busting, fans fall for it, actual employee posts explaining the employees were fired to prevent the studio unionizing

This is *unacceptable*

What's really frustrating is how obvious this was from official investigatory records that I obtained, the same reporting on which the EBT based its reporting calling the shooting an "assassination" attempt. It was clearly local beef.

The FBI uses a lot of shitty people as cooperators and informants but Trump is a great example of someone they wouldn’t use — a pathologically narcissistic braggart who could never keep a secret or maintain focus. It would be like asking the Trix rabbit to wear a wire.

Your electricity bill is going up because data centers are raising demand, not because your utility started scaling out some renewables. Pass it on.

Balkinization: Making Policy Based on Falsehoods: The Federal Government vs UCLA A group blog on constitutional law, theory, and politics

The federal govt's extortion of UCLA has numerous problems. One is that it is ostensibly based on some factual allegations that are so exaggerated that they are actually false.

I wrote about this today in a long blog post reflecting on what I saw at UCLA and how lawyers later mischaracterized it:

This is a great interview. LA Taco really has been doing great stuff, well before the ICE raids. One of the best Los Angeles-based outlets. I remember a very good piece profiling the one voting center inside Skid Row, in an election where homelessness was the top issue.

Exclusive | The Onion Brought Back Its Print Edition. The Gamble Is Paying Off. Publications turn to the old-style products to appeal to nostalgic readers and stand out in a crowded digital-media landscape.

Some incredibly good news:

One year ago this week, The Onion returned to print.

In that one year, we’ve grown to the 13th largest print newspaper in the United States, just ahead of the Boston Globe, and growing fast.

In short, it’s working.

So… thank you. Thank you for helping save this thing.

AI Is a Mass-Delusion Event Three years in, one of AI’s enduring impacts is to make people feel like they’re losing it.

"Google’s AI summaries are cratering traffic and rewiring the web. In schools, ChatGPT hasn’t just killed the student essay; it seems to be threatening basic building blocks of human cognition."

Steven Bonnell aka Destiny is accused of both sexting and sharing non concentual sexual material with a minor and CNN thought it would be appropriate to do a profile on him this month.
After numerous women stated that he recorded and shared sexual material without their consent

Videos are pouring in if cops being their customary roid-fueled, excessively violent selves, but not one video of a cop getting shot or attacked with anything beyond Subway.

So where are the Mad Max gangs who have supposedly taken over the streets?

Oh right, this is a fascist regime and they lie.
