Like basically I go to e-gates, and keep trying to use them til machine errors.
That gets me to a queue for people who should be able to use e-gates but it failed.

This queue is much shorter than the queue for non-e-gate eligible passports.

I am basically never going to get to use e-gates at passport control.

Before I got my last passport they were not really a thing.
Then for 7-8 years the chip in mine was broken so it didn't register right.
Then 2-3 years on a reissue because i transitioned.

Then it expired just before I got FFS.

I hate this so much. I got a message from a colleague about a proposal document for a complicated model. He's a experienced computation biologist. Couple of decades in academia and industry. He's not a native English speaker but has been speaking it since before some of my colleagues were born.

I have been on a surprising number of flights recently that did not have any names called, and were fully boarded ahead of schedule.

I suspect this has a lot to do with me getting either first flight in morning, or last flight in evening. Which attracts a certain demographic.
