A bit of vaporwave art using yesterday's commissioned model as the base.

A commission for @vegadog.bsky.social

You too can still get very affordable spaceships while my whimsical mood lasts!

One more, this time with a station. This particular texture (which is actually an AO map of a random trimsheet I had lying around BTW) is a gift that just keeps giving.

Sure thing!

This is also partly meant to let people who might otherwise not be able to afford the (allegedly) Serious Illustrator Rate commission something for like, worldbuilding projects or their TTRPG group or whatever

If you have something more specific (or commercial) but want this style, I can still offer discounts but not nearly as deep.

Modeling to a specific set of requirements instead of being pointed in a general direction and going where it takes me is much more work haha.

For this style, provided you're flexible about the details and as a special offer due to many annoying expenses at once + a whimsical mood ~~$45.

My usual rate for something non sketchy is closer to $300-600 (you obviously get much more than a sketch)

This is a limited time offer.

A bit more sketchy stuff -- you can still hire me at the special rate if you want one!

I'm not sure I follow you here

From a design POV, I've been pushing the monster flipbook approach to ship customization. The design isn't my department, but as the guy doing concept art, I want to make the case. It's probably got some legs from a TTRPG perspective too. That's a dangerous thought.

A few rearrangements of existing parts. I'm honestly a bit sad that these will have to be made into PBR-ed models eventually. But this is also a stylistic breakthrough--we were really struggling to get something that really fit the vibe And I think we've finally found it.

Not at the performance required here!

And there were...issues with the delta clipper. The reality is that a vehicle that can scrape by with a bit of payload as an SSTO is hugely improved by even a minimal second stage. But that's not good if you need a soft SF reusable shuttle!

Some more smaller scale efforts. The goal here was a MaK-style launch vehicle. Soft SF enabling compact SSTOs, ignoring aerodynamics, etc. I'm still not really happy with these, but they are a promising first step that I'll probably be returning to.

There certainly will!

The kitbashes of some of the past few designs are going there and there are also some older concepts for this project that are more explicitly Vostok and Gemini inspired.

The people have spoken and they have demanded more sputnik torchships. I have no choice but to obey their will.

The presentation is also just really bad. It's a very long, very disorganized tutorial.

2 months ago 2 0 0 0

Imphenzia's intro to low poly modeling tutorial is much better and actually teaches you all the basic modeling controls in >2h. And doesn't fuck around with random sideshows like using particle systems to make sprinkles.

Tutorials like that give you the tools to do your own thing.

It doesn't actually teach the skills you need as a new user and instead just jumps around random parts of blender that are not gonna be useful to a beginner. It's also just a very long tutorial that encourages you to engage uncritically.

If you're doing a tutorial you need to be active about it!

Instructions unclear, made a donut. But seriously, fuck the donut. Horrible tutorial.

Some more commissions as part of this little offer -- made for NuthinButTheRain on the TSF Discord. If you have a ship you want in this style, let me know!

The first piece in Operation Fuckass Broken Washing Machine is done! Hire me for 1/10th of my usual rate (if you want this style, aren't using it in a commercial work, and are relaxed about the details)!

That's $45 for one, $35 for the next.

Offer good for as long as my whimsical mood lasts!

2 months ago 67 17 0 0

If you do have specific and detailed needs or don't want something in this exact style, I am still available for regular commissioned work but I cannot offer you the I hate my fuckass washing machine rate.

2 months ago 3 0 1 0

Noncommercial use only. This is not for you if you have strong opinions about what you want, are precious about a specific hero ship, or want something complex.

But if you want something for your ttrpg group or worldbuilding project this is an opportunity to hire me at ~1/10th of my usual rate.

2 months ago 2 0 1 0

I changed my DM settings - totally forgot about that. So the answer is yes, but as a limited time whimsical mood + tax season + washing machine broke + laptop dying special.

With a shitty MS paint sketch or a short brief, I can do one piece for $45. Bulk discount for 2, generous discount for 5+.

These guys are fun even though I'm not the most imaginative with softer designs.

FWW, if anyone is interested, I can probably do these as a cheap cheerful little commissions at something *much* lower than my usual rates. If that's something you're interested in, let me know!

I'm unfortunately looking for a combination of fairly specific and esoteric things, so if I don't reach out, it's not personal so much as a set of very unusual requirements for this hypothetical project.

This is an absolutely brilliant use of generators. Fantastic work!

In other news, if you know anyone who can draw weird-lookin' humans in a ligne claire style, I have art to commission from them!

Another predictable one. I made sure to give it livery so Tintin didn't have to join the MBEN ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Again, more games with AOV lineart here. It's not as controllable as I'd like, but it can still be improved.
