I do the same with the typography. "That one wasn't designed until 1953..."

She'd probably say it's "distressingly popular".
The interlace twitter is gorgeous 🤩
A screenshot taken in the 3D modelling program Blender. It shows a model of the Associated-Rediffusion clock, a camera in front of the clock and two lights either side of the camera to illuminate it.
You can see here how I lit my Blender model of "Mitch". Two lights either side of the camera. Nowhere near as nice as the Associated-Rediffusion set-up! I haven't got the black velvet material on the backing board here, so you can see shadows on it.
He is probably too busy with his other hobbies; for instance his impression of Tortoise from Pipkins is spot-on.
This is absolutely fantastic. Many thanks for sharing it.
Her Thomas the Tank Engine was my favourite - the drama around that bell was intense.
Just as a bit of extra confirmation - the signage on the door matches the signage we used to see on Magpie when they used to wander around Teddington during their appeals.
Everyone here already knows about this, obviously, but for the stragglers just getting back from a month in Ulaanbaatar, please go to Mark McMillan's brilliant Project Pendulum NOW. Yes, put down that fork, leave the table and just *glory* in it. Thank you. www.mcmweb.co.uk/project_pend...
Listening to Paul McCartney's new single today. It sounds both musically and lyrically like it could be a @tawalker.bsky.social track, which is very high praise indeed. The UK's Eurovision entry is bloody good too.
It's incredible how happy I am to see this - I always wanted to see a picture like this of Mitch and here it is. Many, many thanks for sharing it.
Is that for the Border or the Central?
Me in another decade (on the far left).
For me, it would be pre-Biddy Baxter Blue Peter. That always fascinated me as a child, since looking at the history of BP in the 1978 Blue Peter book.
He's gorgeous.
I must say, it's rather good.
Very enjoyable half hour. And yes, Boots was the Amstrad place in Yeovil too; only place I ever saw a 664. I used to go there and be thoroughly jealous of the CPC's beautiful palette.
With Meg, perhaps it should be "But hwy?"
And there's me thinking that the words were "Deck the halls with boughs of holly; now it's time for Redvers Kyle..."
Got a lovely video recommendation this morning - some absolute genius remaking Compton Organ tonewheels. youtu.be/NsIT_XVcRv4?...
Barclay James Harvest...
...er, sorry, that's it. I've only ever been to one!
My goodness, this must be the coolest Mellotron ever. I'm sure Woolly Wolstenholme would have loved one... youtu.be/MK0CVe1QlCQ?...
First page of the score of Ed Welch's 1982 theme to TSW's regional news programme "Today South West". The arrangement is for Oboe, Alt Sax, 2 Horns, 2 Trumpets, Timpani, Marimba, Drum Kit, Piano, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Violins and Viola. Synth part is not added yet.
When you have a rubbish day at work, you can pretend you're in Torquay in late 1981...
I listen via AntennaPod, and it's one of the best podcasts there is. I think it's going to prove an invaluable bit of oral social history in future. But it's completely up to you whether you feel it's worth the money.
I blame the Pilkington committee. Without that bunch of snobbish middle class nano wits we could have had Channel Four, the natural home for this, in 1964.
I will never, ever get used to the fact that sometimes you can write a blog post about something you adore, and then the person who created it pops up in the comments. Like this morning, when I noticed Ian McKim left a comment on my blog post about the 4 Square Maze music. www.kecskebak.hu?p=483
Black cotton Fruit of the Loom t-shirt with a large Television South West logo on it. The logo consists of a stylized blue river with green hills behind it and the legend "TSW" in white.
I haven't had a TSW T-shirt in years, but today I suddenly felt a pressing need to sport three enormous green brassieres so I sent off the order to the t-shirt company. #TelevisionSimplyWonderful
Interesting seeing the original Thames V logo - it seemed like they must have changed theirs from the start.
I'm on holiday. I'm playing with @godotengine.org and listening to this gem. Imagine Dark Side of the Moon, but with Syd there and Roger locked in the cupboard under the stairs...

So sad. I helped with what I think was the last "Closedown" he did. I was working on a DVD called "Beyond Tomorrow" about "The Tomorrow People" and Philip did a little closedown of the video; first from his armchair and then over a clock I animated. His announcement was warm, lovely and magnificent.
