US House Committee Advances 10-Year Moratorium on State AI Regulation | TechPolicy.Press After an amendment challenging the moratorium language failed, it will advance with the rest of the legislative package.

Horrible crap buried in the 389 page behemoth Congress is trying to shove down our throats: blocking any state from regulating AI for the next decade. If you don’t want to bow down to tech bros in this way, get involved at fairshareusa.org www.techpolicy.press/us-house-com...

Ferreira de Oliveira, who is 40 years old, was still at their nearby home when she received a phone call from one of her daughters, who said ICE had pulled them over and were threatening to arrest Clara.

Ferreira de Oliveira’s frightened daughter told her mother that she needed to leave the home now and come meet them on the street, because ICE was telling them that if they arrested Clara, they weren’t allowed to leave the baby in the hands of a minor. So, the feds insisted, grandma needed to rush over to take custody of the baby.

Shortly after Ferreira de Oliveira arrived on the scene, ICE took her into custody. The agents suddenly no longer seemed interested in the 21-year-old daughter. ICE did not arrest her or her 17-year-old sibling.

ICE pretended to arrest a 21 yo in order to force her to call her undocumented mother to come leave the house (where she was safe from ICE arrest) to care for her baby. When the mother came, she was abducted and the daughter was suddenly of no interest to ICE.

Bipartisanship is the result of good-faith responsible governance, it is not the cause.

Trying to create good results by seeking bipartisanship with Nazis is like sleeping in a yellowjacket nest for the honey.

An old heavily worn manuscript with Mi’kmaw hieroglyphic writing on it

Had a wonderful class visit from Mi’kmaw artist and poet (and my cousin) Michelle Sylliboy; before that my class went to the archives to see this 19thc manuscript of Mi’kmaw writing or Komqwejwi’kasikl, which she has revived in her artistic practice.

The FBI Is Investigating Attacks on Tesla as ‘Domestic Terrorism.’ Here’s Why That Matters The domestic terrorism designation could give law enforcement sweeping authority to surveil people protesting against Elon Musk's role in the US federal government, civil liberties experts warn.

MEMORANDUM FOR THE ATTORNEY GENERAL THE SECRETARY OF HOMELAND SECURITY SUBJECT: Preventing Abuses of the Legal System and the Federal Court Lawyers and law firms that engage in actions that violate the laws of the United States or rules governing attorney conduct must be efficiently and effectively held accountable. Accountability is especially important when misconduct by lawyers and law firms threatens our national security, homeland security, public safety, or election integrity.

Unfortunately, far too many attorneys and law firms have long ignored these requirements when litigating against the Federal Government or in
pursuing baseless partisan attacks.
To address these
concerns, I hereby direct the Attorney General to seek sanctions against attorneys and law firms who engage in frivolous, unreasonable, and vexatious litigation against the United States or in matters
before executive departments and agencies of the United States.

Unfortunately, far too many attorneys and law firms have long ignored these requirements when litigating against the Federal Government or in pursuing baseless partisan attacks. To address these concerns, I hereby direct the Attorney General to seek sanctions against attorneys and law firms who engage in frivolous, unreasonable, and vexatious litigation against the United States or in matters before executive departments and agencies of the United States.

I further direct the Attorney General to take all appropriate action to refer for disciplinary action any attorney whose conduct in Federal court or before any component of the Federal Government appears to violate professional conduct rules, including rules governing meritorious claims and contentions, and particularly in cases that implicate national security, homeland security, public safety, or election integrity. In complying with this directive, the Attorney General shall consider the ethical duties that law partners have when supervising junior attorneys, including imputing the ethical misconduct of junior attorneys
to partners or the law firm when appropriate.

In complying with this directive, the Attorney General shall consider the ethical duties that law partners have when supervising junior attorneys, including imputing the ethical misconduct of junior attorneys to partners or the law firm when appropriate.

I further direct that, when the Attorney General determines that conduct by an attorney or law firm in litigation against the Federal Government warrants
seeking sanctions or other disciplinary action, the Attorney General shall, in consultation with any relevant senior executive official, recommend to the President, through the Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy, additional steps that may be taken, including reassessment of security clearances held by the attorney or termination of any Federal contract for which the relevant attorney or law firm has been hired to perform services.

It’s a long “memorandum,” but it’s essentially telling Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem to go after lawyers who challenge the federal government — which is many lawyer’s jobs.

It’s basically a catch-all “let’s Paul Weiss whoever pisses us off” memo.

Casar: You can quickly explain Doge with just two numbers.

First: $8 million a day. That’s how much Elon Musk collects in federal government contracts.

Second: $65 a day. That’s how much the average senior—someone who has worked their entire life—gets from Social Security.…
