Fraud Alert: How Scammers Are Now Impersonating City Governments Planning departments are rethinking digital security as a swarm of imposters scrape public records to send city clients fake invoices.

This happens in SLC. A lot. Check the email domain. If it doesn’t look right, it isn’t legit.

I don’t think we talk nearly enough about the fact that corporations like Amazon, don’t pay a single cent to maintain the roads they use, the transportation system they use, the courts they use, they pay nothing for the infrastructure that is absolutely critical to their business.

Routinely remind myself how good this park is. Places for kids, places for adults, places to relax, no bright playground equipment, next to where a lot of people live, places to eat, next to a tram.

I think he is cooked. I hope he can demonstrate he is different, but the sexual assault comments are not something you easily come back from. But we are all cooked if we can’t let people redeem themselves.

I appreciate your response. I think society has lost a of perspective regarding past mistakes and the universal hope that we should have that people can learn, adapt, and become better human beings. The measure is showing that one has grown from their mistakes.

A lot of us grew up, matured, were young adults before social media. Generations younger than me are going to be criticized, discredited for things they post on social media. The important thing, take responsibility, show how you’ve changed, and fall back on core values of how you treat people.

I just want candidates running for political office to demonstrate as a starting point that they are professional, courteous, ethical, not a criminal. Real basic shit. If you can’t demonstrate that, instant DQ for me. Not a lot left in that pool.

He is a former prosecutor and is taking it to trial. Wouldn’t be surprised if the ACLU has contacted him. This city also settled a first amendment case over denying permits for drag performances.

He honked in support of ‘No Kings’ protesters in Utah. Now he is fighting a ticket in court. Can you honk at a protest? A southern Utah man ticketed for doing just that is now taking his case to court.

Must be nice to have the time to ticket people for honking their horn at a protest.

Only spider we kill is a black widow. Jumping spiders are awesome. Ever seen a cat faced spider? They can get pretty big and build huge webs.

Salt Lake City Voted Down the Sugar House Hotel. Now What? A parcel near Sugar House Park faces an uncertain future after the Salt Lake City Council voted to reject a plan to build a hotel.

Good insight from various people in this article. I am still amazed Kum and Go entered into a lease without land use approval and no way to back out if they couldn’t get land use approval. buildingsaltlake.com/future-of-ol...

We already knew last month was Utah's warmest March since at least 1895 — but NCEI's new data release shows we crushed the previous record.

Utah's avg temp last month was 51.1 degrees, 5.5 degrees above the previous record and nearly 11 degrees above the 30-year normal #utwx

Salt Lake City has a housing shortage. Will expanding housing options fix affordability? Salt Lake City is seeking to shake up its residential zones, which could allow for more housing types across a third of the city, as it aims to handle affordability hurdles.

"Our hope is that those who may be currently priced out of certain neighborhoods will be able to live in those neighborhoods if this works out as intended."

Here's why SLC is seeking to tweak its residential zones (covering 1/3 of the city) to expand housing types:

1. Here’s a thread on #NIMBY (“not in my backyard”) and the challenges of change in cities:

First off, although it might feel that way, NIMBY isn’t unique to your city, and it’s (probably) not worse in your city than anywhere else. It’s also not surprising, since it’s largely about human nature.

I think it’s probably just the broad zoning definition that this is called a cottage court. I think it’s a fine option for those that are interested in this type living. It’s not much different than these, just bigger site with more homes.

And adopted by the council. City has 180 days to make this permanent. But anyone seeking a permit to connect to water has to comply. If city doesn’t make them permanent, then they can get permits. The city will absolutely meet the 180 day deadline.

Closing at 3 for these reasons is typical in May. Not March. Don’t be surprised if this becomes regular. Also, no Frank Day at Alta this year. I’m guessing the rain early next week is the dagger for PC and Deer Valley. If they make it through the weekend.
