The gluten free caramel chocolate chip Girl Scout cookies are really good!!
The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. Solving the problem requires urgent, important communications from the CDC & FDA* and rapid development of research by the NIH**

"... trans and nonbinary youth were asked about the best ways to support them. The top three were: 'Trusting that I know who I am,' 'Standing up for me,' and 'Not supporting politicians who support anti-LGBTQ [policies]...'"

Ok so if we are looking to stop using Meta platforms and TikTok, does anyone know where to connect in the same way? Best way to find similar interest-based communities on here?
Yesterday, President Biden said in a press statement that he ratified the #EqualRightsAmendment and it is now the law of the land . . . but not so fast. 🧵 #CivilRights #ReproRights #GenderJustice
I’ve been waiting for this knowing you’d have the breakdown we all need 🙌🏼
As someone from New England, I really cannot wrap my mind around schools being closed for 3 days because of 8 inches of snow
Merry Christmas and happy Hanukkah Internet pals!
I am out of the office for the rest of the year so naturally today SCOTUS takes Kerr v Planned Parenthood and whether or not beneficiaries have a right to chose their own providers which is one way states try to defund Planned Parenthood
Trump and his Congressional allies are spending this #UniversalHealthCoverage Day strategizing on how they will pay for tax cuts for billionaires by cutting #Medicaid. NHeLP is ready to fight back. By Madeline Morcelle @reprolawyer.bsky.social #UHCDay #ProtectMedicaid healthlaw.org/medicaid-cut...
Also what’s the hashtag for disability blue sky??
I just had a rib subluxation fixed yesterday and woke up this morning with it back out. Chronic illness is so fun!
These stories are a mix of living in rural areas and major metropolitan areas. Both have been bad, but I’ll take the major metro areas any day when it comes to availability of specialty care. Now if only they all took insurance…
Just remembered another one: it took so long to get referred to and then schedule an appointment with a gastroenterologist to see if I had celiac disease that, by the time of the appointment, I’d already been gluten free for too long to be tested lol and the doctor was a 4 hour drive away
I could barely use my left hand at all for those whole 6 months + a couple more months post-op.
In high school, I had knee pain for 3+ years before my pcp took me seriously and referred me to physical therapy.
Shall I go on?
I have been waiting to be able to schedule a sleep study for over a year. It also took 5 months to get an appointment with the only allergist in my area who specializes in mast cell diseases.
In college, I wasn’t able to schedule surgery until 6 months after a wrist injury occurred.
You have to order it online but I am so glad a neighbor with a gf daughter put me onto it. Better results than any other flour I’ve tried and I’ve been gf for 10 years! The transition to gluten free is hard but it gets easier!
Pricy but worth it: check out gfjules for flour! I made an apple pie with it a few weeks ago and crust dough didn’t break or crack! It was flaky and tasted right, too! No soggy bottom either.
Started this account over a year ago, but it was a bit quiet so I deleted the app. Hearing way more folks have come over now. Is this the new place to be??
This. It isn’t over the top consumerism if this is the only time of year you can afford certain things.
“In Maine, the deaf community is particularly intimate because of how sparsely populated the state is,” said Amy Richardson, who was friends with two of the victims.
“We are grieving,” she signed, using two hands moving in opposite directions on her chest, as if she was twisting her heart in half.
If it’s an old well I hope it’s actually the hole from an old outhouse
As noted, Lewiston wouldn’t seem like a Black city by those in more diverse states, but it *has* been used nationally as an example to rile up racism and anti-refugee sentiment. It’s a dog whistle example and big in NIMBY circles.
Saying hi because I’m from Waterville! Few people would ever expect that this is what would get Maine on national news and it feels like everyone with any connection to the state is justifiably gutted.
putting this here: Lewiston is a notably Black and Muslim city. mental illness doesn’t make you racist and it doesn’t make you Islamophobic.
Just to say it again, Maine has the highest percentage of white people of any state at around 95%., Black population about 1%. Going people hunting in an area that 20% POC/13% Black and specifically Somali Muslim is a choice.

Lewiston is still in lock down. Since the gun debate is so often framed around freedom what about the freedom of movement, to leave your house, go to work, go out? Why does your right to Rambo cosplay trump my mom's right to run to the grocery store?
I'm a psych NP in Maine. I could tell you stories about access to mental health in this state that would make you cry.
