I find it interesting how people will knock on video games as a way to help a kid like reading. I gave my kid a narrative game he HAD to read what was on the screen to know what to do. His reading ability went up… who knew. The right kind of game can be a tool for all sorts of skills.

New job means I have a signed contract but no schedule, no curriculum, no clue on expectations, no idea on what materials I have available and aaaaaallll the work nightmares that then go with those facts.

I went and saw the musical about her recently. I also studied her story in my American Music class. Such a crazy up and down life she had but wow what talent.

Currently between jobs as I have submitted my resignation to my last place but still have to wait another week to get board approval and a contract with the new one. I’m trying to not spend any of this time doing any work for either place and it’s such a strange place for me to be.

Kind of sad when I hear a nearby school isn’t hiring a librarian full time because “they really don’t need one”. Tells me they really underestimate what they could be getting and instead assume it’s unnecessary.

Just wrapped up battle of the books for two teams and now going to start a battle of the books jr for 3rd and 2nd grade because apparently I can’t just chill.

Yeah I had a kid in 6th grade ask where to put his return books while he was in the library. I told him to put it the same place he had for the past seven years. Since the first day of kindergarten he had put them in the same place but that info magically left on that day. I had a good chuckle

Dang! We had two the first full week after the holidays but now we are having super unusual warm weather. We really don’t have any snow left. I’m guessing we get a rest late snow storm in April.

I would say yay to snow day but not with the losing part. We still have three days worth of built in extra time before we have to make up but we are in WI so not having extra time is a gamble.

Excellent thanks. It’s hard to try to balance the wide age ranges sometimes.

So I have a 6-12 library and I see you rate it 9-12. Is it too much older content to potentially be picked up by younger kids?

Kicking myself for not pre-ordering the newest amulet book so I could take it to school today. My only local option is Walmart and they don’t have it. Going to have some sad kids.

Was told today a kid who signed up for a reading challenge didn’t realize they had to read. I’m at a loss of where the confusion is here and how to avoid such errors in the future.

At the point where my TBR list for work has made making a TBR list for home futile. Luckily Percy Jackson #1 is one of our middle school battle to the books this year so I can read it at home with my 13 yr old who is really getting into the Disney + series.

It’s been a slow transition but still trying to find and follow all the librarians from the other app. I spent a good week thinking I had already followed some only to realize I hadn’t. Who are some peoples favorite? I run a k-12 so any level is good.

The saying is usually grass is greener so I guess for this platform it’s if the sky is bluer?

I had only been holding on since many of the librarians I follow were still there. Now hopefully most have made the jump here
