On the smaller stack of books stands a glass ball — a snow globe — but, instead of a snowy scene, it contains a darkened rocky landscape and a deep, shimmering night sky filled with stars. Two figures stand on a path, one in black robes, the other in white. A herd of goats forage peacefully around them. A sheet of flimsy, age-mottled paper in the foreground appears to be a sheet from an old receipt pad, bearing an engraving of the bookshop in one corner and a list of products and services in the other.
