The more change descriptions focus on the purpose and intent (the "why") of the code, the more helpful they are during both review and future code archaeology.

Code comments are a great place for the nitty-gritty (the "how").

"Trust Me: The False Prophet" on #Netflix was incredible. A huge level beyond most of the shows like this, put together by a woman who recently, painstakingly earned the trust of a self-proclaimed "prophet" (pedo) in order to gather enough evidence to help law enforcement put him away. Recommended.

Code review get discussed as a way to improve code quality. It is, but it's also about helping developers better learn and grow from each other.

What #TIL, skill, technique, or gotcha did you first learn from a code review?

Our server just got taken down by a significant amount of traffic. What was notable is that it was all going through CloudFront -- and our server is not behind CloudFront. Someone else set that up and scanned through it.

The X-Forwarded-For headers were available.

It was Meta.

Twitter, BlueSky, Mastodon, LinkedIn, Threads... I find I don't post often anymore because it's just so dang time-consuming to engage everywhere.

Are other people using any tools to post across their personal accounts? I'm not interested in scheduling/analytics.

GitHub - refractionpcsx2/DeadlyTowersEnhanced: A small set of patches (and information) to improve the Deadly Towers NES experience A small set of patches (and information) to improve the Deadly Towers NES experience - refractionpcsx2/DeadlyTowersEnhanced

I have just released some patches for the NES game Deadly Towers to make the experience a little more palatable, One just speeds up transitions and stops repeated music tracks restarting, the other adds no knockback and iframes on room entry. Enjoy! #NES #DeadlyTowers

Decided it was time to build a new mechanical watch. I was careful to watch my steps, tick each box. Thought I messed up for a second, but in the end I had to hand it to myself… it wound up looking pretty good!

Did a little coloring while watching @hungrygoriya.bsky.social's stream last night showcasing SNES Maps volume 2 by @retrogamebooks.com. The coloring book is a lot of fun 🙂 Takes me back to childhood.

We're getting all our ducks in a row for a major release of Review Board that will be the backbone for all the new things to come (including #AI features that put humans first).

So happy to land #Jujutsu support in RBTools. This will work with existing #Git repositories in Review Board, giving users a choice as to how they want to get their work done locally.

Here is one of the dumbest things about vibe coding that I don't see a lot of people talking about

Imagine you're an open source maintainer and someone opens up a pull request against your repository that they vibe coded. They may or may not tell you they vibe coded it; it doesn't really matter… 🧵

After about 2 weeks of mostly being in bed with no energy thanks to #COVID, I finally had my first negative test. Feeling so much better than I did two days ago.

Back to getting the next major version of @reviewboard.org ready to release.

If we're gonna get a watercooled iPhone, the least they could do is stick one of these on the back.

Actually, hold on. I have a case idea.
