This is truly an insane thing for a public health person to say.

Outright eugenics.

Okay, so sometime this summer the admins of his SAVE are going to tell him that program is over and he'll have to transition. You definitely want to make sure to transition the SAVE to IDR as well if you can. RAP otherwise. If you do nothing, they go on Standard 10 and that'll be $$$

Most forbearance plans eventually term out and you have to start paying. Several are stuck in various court appeals, and may eventually start going again

You should investigate IDR (income-driven repayment) as an alternative that should have better long term financial outcome.

Yeah, I go on 2–3 backcountry backpacking trips a year, and almost always end with a checked bag on these trips.

That said, if you travel more than twice a year on the same airline, just get whatever lowest tier credit card they have with free checked bags. Pays for itself.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is preparing banks to collect citizenship data Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent says the Trump administration expects banks to comply in collecting citizenship information from customers.

Major alarm bells over this. Bessent wants US banks to require customers send in copies of their passports etc. to prove citizenship, which would be far beyond the know-your-customer checks that they're required to do already. Implies this could result in closing bank accounts over non-compliance.

I have seriously lost track of how many times we've completely obliterated Iran's military and how many times Trump has reopened the Strait of Hormuz.

Pancreatic cancer mRNA vaccine shows lasting results in an early trial Scientists caution that more research is needed, but nearly all of the patients who responded to the personalized vaccine are still alive six years later.

This is the life-saving technology Trump and his administration are canceling.

Sharing my #OffbeatEats review of Sardine Rose, a pleasant Portuguese café with some excellent grilled chicken reminding me of my many trips to Portugal. And some great pasteis de nata as well.

I'll ask up here in the top thread. Anyone remember 16mm films from the 60s and 70s, “I’m really mad at me” and “I’m really mad at you”. Both featuring essentially the same jingle… "Why am I doing the things that I do... Why am I doing the things that I do?! 🎶"

But a few real duds were entirely too frequent in the rotation. None worse than the 1960s or early 1970s pair of anger management films, “I’m really mad at me” and “I’m really mad at you”. Both featuring essentially the same jingle…
